Nowadays, indie wrestler and promoter Devon Nicholson is best recognized for his videos on his YouTube channel The HANNIBAL TV, which has over 300,000 subscribers. Yet, to many, he is the wrestler who caught Hepatitis C from Abdullah The Butcher and sued him because he consequently missed out on signing with WWE. Fortunately for him, he has been cured of the disease, and therefore you would think he was against blood in wrestling.
That, though, doesn’t appear to be the case, as this past weekend, following his match against Carlito, he would repeatedly cut referee Lande Deltoro so severely he required hospital treatment after an artery was severed. A video of the onslaught, along with some gruesome photos, can be viewed below, but be warned they are not for the faint of heart.
Subsequent reports have concluded that the referee had agreed to be bladed to get Nicholson’s “Blood Hunter” gimmick over. Nevertheless, the wrestler went overboard and disregarded the referee’s safety. Police would question multiple witnesses after the match, and a GoFundMe has since been set up to cover Deltoro’s medical bills. Some fans would ask whether the incident was a work as Nicholson uploaded the violent video to his YouTube channel. However, he has since made it private following the backlash.
As of writing, Nicolson has yet to comment publicly, although there have been reports of him blocking people that call him out on it on social media. Additionally, he has since resumed discussing wrestling news on his YouTube channel. Still, he has omitted any mention of his own weekend activities other than saying he was late posting new content due to traveling.
Ring of Honor is set to go on hiatus until April 2022, with some even speculating they won’t be returning. If that was the case, the promotion went out with a bang with some excellent matches and unexpected appearances. Arguably the most significant surprise appearance was the former Braun Strowman, who is now going by his real name Adam Scheer.
He would debut at the conclusion of EC3’s match when the former Impact Wrestling and WWE talent was cutting a promo on corporate wrestling, saying the wrestlers could take the business back block by block. At first, Wesley Blake and another wrestler appeared on the ramp, and then once EC3 declared “Free the Titan,” the former WWE Universal Champion would come from the back and storm down to the ring to lay out the other wrestlers in the ring with EC3.

The brothers were recently backstage at Dynamite, so presumably, this angle will conclude in AEW, which should delight fans of tag team wrestling as this is undoubtedly a dream match.

It was an emotional show for anyone who has followed ROH over the years, and throughout the evening, videos with comments from multiple ROH alumni would air, including Bryan Danielson, CM Punk, Adam Page, and Eddie Edwards. The whole show is available to stream now via FITE, with the first 10 minutes available for free.
In May 2020, Alberto Del Rio was accused by a now ex-girlfriend of some horrific offenses, including kidnapping and assault. He would end up indicted and was initially meant to face trial on January 25th, 2021, but the case had to be repeatedly rescheduled. Now though, following a hearing on Friday, December 11th, court documents have indicated all charges against the former WWE Champion have been dropped.
Apparently, a witness failed to attend, and consequently, the case was closed, and he now faces no punishment. Had he been found guilty, he faced life imprisonment for life, so saying this is a positive result for Del Rio is an understatement even if he didn’t get to clear his name in court. A significant issue in the case was that his accuser later recanted her story and publicly apologized. However, with so many domestic abuse victims being coerced into taking back their claims, the State decided to progress based on evidence.
Del Rio is currently attempting to rebuild his career and has been mainly wrestling in Mexico since returning to the ring earlier this year. The belief is his goal is to return to WWE, and he has told friends that it will happen once this legal issue is resolved. While it seems incredibly unlikely WWE would bring him back for the third time, anything is possible with Vince McMahon, so perhaps it isn’t as farfetched as many think.
This past Tuesday, Kyle O’Reilly and Johnny Gargano spent time in front of the live crowd with NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa when NXT went off-air. At the time, it was seen as them saying farewell with it known both men’s contracts were expiring. However, as both had been offered new deals nor publicly announced their intention to depart WWE, their status wasn’t officially known. Now though, PWInsider has reported that WWE removed the duo from their internal roster on Friday afternoon, ascertaining they are finished with the company.
WWE removed Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly from their roster internally this afternoon as each talents existing deals have expired. As of today they are both free agents and can wrestle anywhere they wish.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider.comThis news coincides with Gargano’s reopening his Pro Wrestling Tees store and announcing his intention to stream on Twitch. Seemingly he is looking to continue bringing in an income while he spends time at home with his wife Candice LaRae ahead of the birth of their first child. So far, there have been no validated claims he will end up with AEW, and it’s just as likely he will begin competing on the indie circuit next year.
Regarding O’Reilly, the belief is he will end up joining AEW as an Undisputed Era reunion along with Adam Cole, and Bobby Fish would be very popular among their fans. Nevertheless, a timeframe for this isn’t known, although as he has no non-compete clause, he could debut for the promotion as soon as next Wednesday.
Tammy Sytch, better known to wrestling fans as Sunny, turned 49 earlier this week, and unlike last year when she was incarcerated, she was able to celebrate. Unfortunately, however, things didn’t go to plan, and in a series of now-deleted Facebook posts, she would reveal her current boyfriend let her down big time. In fact, things went so wrong the former most downloaded woman on the internet would actually swear off men!
Things haven’t been great for Sunny over the past few months, as she recently spent 10 days hospitalized following gallbladder removal surgery. Thankfully, though, she seems to be over her medical issues and is now trying to find love. Nevertheless, the man in question appears to have blown his opportunity, so hopefully, the WWE Hall of Famer gets to spend her 50th birthday with either a man or woman that appreciates Sunny Days.
This past Saturday, Jeff Hardy would exit through the crowd during a WWE house show match, leaving his partners Xavier Woods and Drew McIntyre clearly confused. The news would later break that WWE had sent him home, and obviously, with Jeff having a past troubled by substance abuse issues, fans were concerned for the much-loved WWE star.
[adthrive-in-post-video-player video-id=”9hTrsRNN” upload-date=”2021-12-06T11:49:52.000Z” name=”Jeff Hardy Leaves Match” description=”” player-type=”default” override-embed=”default”]Now it appears that drugs or alcohol was involved, as it has been reported by multiple sources that WWE has released Hardy after he turned down their offer of rehab. Not much more is known regarding the situation; however, his wife Beth has since tweeted out to her followers that Jeff is doing fine and appears to be playing down concerns.

While Hardy has always been incredibly popular with fans, WWE has always been reluctant to push him at the top of the card due to his reputation for being unreliable. What the future holds for Hardy now remains to be seen, but with him seemingly having relapsed, hopefully, he addresses that before returning to the ring for another promotion
Trent Beretta was one of AEW’s first signings, but unfortunately, his time with the company has been limited due to injuries. However, during Wednesday night’s Dynamite, he would return sporting short hair and looking to be in tremendous shape. Arriving as a passenger in his mom Sue’s minivan, he would make the save after the Rocky Romero and Chuck Taylor vs. Young Bucks tag match before hugging with the rest of the Best Friends.
[adthrive-in-post-video-player video-id=”A1VbtFjz” upload-date=”2021-12-09T14:26:48.000Z” name=”Trent Arrives With Sue” description=”” player-type=”default” override-embed=”default”]Six months ago, Beretta shared the sad news that he had undergone neck fusion surgery shortly after returning from a partially torn pec. Not much information was given at the time other than the procedure “went well.” However, during the latest Barstool Rasslin’, he’d say he was waiting on the bones growing together and didn’t know when he would be able to return. Obviously, we now know he was working everyone to ensure his return was a surprise and garnered a big reaction.
Beretta became known to most wrestling fans when signing with WWE in 2007 before debuting as part of WWE’s version of ECW in 2009 alongside Caylen Croft as a tag team. Once Croft was let go by the company, Beretta would become a singles wrestler on SmackDown, mainly used in lower card feuds and as an enhancement talent. He’d end up on NXT in 2012 before suffering a torn triceps and being released not long after making his comeback. Since then, he wrestled for TNA, ROH and became a New Japan regular. In the process, he significantly increased his value to the degree that when he signed with AEW, it was considered a risk for him because he had a good spot in New Japan.
Six months ago, Trent Beretta shared the unfortunate news that he had undergone neck fusion surgery just after returning from a partially torn pec. Not much information was given at the time other than the procedure “went well.” However, he has now he has appeared on Barstool Rasslin’ along with Orange Cassidy and Chuck Taylor and provided some more information. Specifically saying he doesn’t know when he’ll be able to resume wrestling as he is waiting for the bones to grow together.
I don’t know because it’s just like, there’s not even rehab to do. It’s just waiting for my bones to grow together. I just gotta wait for my bones to grow together, though, you know what I mean? They put the plates in, and they take the discs out, and then in-between they put, he said it’s like a crushed coral. I don’t understand why it’s not just floating around but it’s something like that, and then the bone grows into where the crush coral, I think it’s like a little disc thing with the coral in it. It’s not actually coral. They drill the sh*t in, and then they just, there was only the metal keeping my neck together after surgery.
Trent BerettaIt isn’t known whether it was a single incident or a build of up wear and tear that resulted in the serious operation being required. Sadly though, it appears despite the surgery being some time ago, he still has a long period of recovery ahead of him. Still, hopefully, when he does return, he will be able to compete at the high standard he previously did and put his injury problems behind him.
The wrestling world, especially those within WWE, are currently mourning the sad news that Jack Lanza, best known as one of The Blackjacks, has passed away at the age of 86. A cause of death has not yet been confirmed. However, it was known he had been unwell dating back to at least 2016, after he missed his induction into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame for this reason. Not much is known about his personal life as he was very old school and rarely gave interviews out of character, although he is survived by his wife, Barbara.
While most modern wrestling fans will recognize his name from his time working as a road agent for WWE, he was a legendary pro wrestler in his day. He would initially be trained by Verne Gagne and competed between 1961 and 1985 for multiple promotions, usually in a prominent position. Most famously, he was known for his tag teams with Bobby Duncum Sr. and Bob Windham, better known by his ring name Blackjack Mulligan and held tag team gold in both the AWA and then named WWWF.
He would also achieve title success as a singles competitor by winning the WWA World Heavyweight Championship in 1965 and holding it was an incredible 611 days. Arguably though, his most significant career honor would come in 2006 when he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame.
Six weeks ago, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan shared on social media that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer and would therefore be undergoing surgery on October 29th. Now the WWE Hall of Famer has updated fans with the fantastic news that he is has been declared cancer-free. He would disclose this on a video shared on Twitter confirming that his cancer had been encapsulated inside his prostate and that his bones and the surrounding tissue were clear.
The surgery mentioned above was actually Duggan’s second during October, although specific details surrounding the first were never disclosed. Unfortunately, the former WWE and WCW star has had multiple health emergencies over the year, dating back to being diagnosed with kidney cancer in 1998. Happily, though, he would overcome that and be able to resume his in-ring career. Although in his later years, he was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat that necessitated surgery. Then later in the same year, he underwent two further operations for what was described as a serious infection. Hopefully, now though, Duggan can have a spell without any additional health issues.
Overnight AEW wrestler Jake Evans tweeted out the shocking news that two police officers are extorting him in Mexico City, which is where he currently resides. He revealed that so far, he had been forced to pay 7,000 Mexican Pesos, which is just under $350 and is now refusing to pay anymore. He’d follow this up by saying that if he ends up incarcerated on drug charges, it will be because of this.
This is a very alarming tweet, and Evans, who lives with his partner and children, is clearly very concerned. Police corruption in Mexico has been an issue for the country for a long time, and he is courageous to reveal details. What happens now isn’t clear, but hopefully, with his situation out in public, the dishonest cops back off.
Both Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly’s WWE contacts expire this week, and with no news on them re-signing, this week’s episode of NXT was perhaps their final appearance. Gargano would end up cutting a speech about his uncertain future but acknowledging he would be a father in February before Grayson Waller laid him out. While in O’Reilly’s case, he would lose a steel cage match to Von Wagner.
While it wasn’t certain the pair were being written off the show, once NXT was off the air, there appeared to be a final farewell held. This saw NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa join his longtime friend and nemesis Gargano in the ring before O’Reilly entered joining the duo. Twitter user Tai__5 would capture this on film, and you can view this below.
[adthrive-in-post-video-player video-id=”BW1Ydjco” upload-date=”2021-12-08T13:14:07.000Z” name=”Possible Final Farewell To Johnny Gargano & Kyle O’Reilly” description=”” player-type=”default” override-embed=”default”]What the future holds for the pair isn’t known yet as legally neither can negotiate with anyone else until their WWE deals expire. However, the belief is O’Reilly is the one most likely to join AEW as an Undisputed Era reunion along with Adam Cole, and Bobby Fish would be very popular among their fans.
Regarding Gargano, it wouldn’t be surprising for him to eventually re-sign with WWE as he was offered an improved new contract. Nevertheless, with his wife Candice LeRae’s giving birth to the couple’s first child in February, his focus is currently on that.
