Renee Young recently revealed the cancelation of WWE Backstage prompted her to leave WWE, but it seems that she isn’t done with the wrestling business. Speaking to The Sports Media Podcast with Richard Deitsch, she informed listeners that she feels it would be foolish to leave the industry, given her experience and fan base.
I have built up such a great resume and a great fan base. All this knowledge about professional wrestling, for me to just fully abandon that and try a different career, and do something new seems a little foolish.Renee Young
With her husband Jon Moxley, one of the top stars of AEW, it seems inevitable that she’ll end up there. However, it will be some time before fans see her on TNT, given how long her non-compete clause is.
Under a year. It’s in around a neighbor of that area.Renee Young
It should be noted young can work in other industries before her non-compete expires, just not pro wrestling. She still has a contract with Fox as WWE Backstage was run separately to WWE, so she may appear for them to cover other sports over the course of the next year.

Last night’s edition of Raw featured a match between The Viking Raiders, Ricochet, and Apollo Crews vs. The Hurt Business, where Ivar suffered what looked like a severe injury. Following a dive to the outside and landing on all four members of the Hurt Business, Ivar would quickly give the X signal, as you can see in the fan-recorded video below, to make everyone aware he was hurt.

[adthrive-in-post-video-player video-id=”k8AOVevo” upload-date=”2020-09-08T08:17:51.000Z” name=”Ivar Raw Dive Injury” description=”” player-type=”default” override-embed=”default”]

After Raw had finished, WWE would post an update on WWE.com, letting fans know that Ivar had suffered a neck injury, but will be OK following a hospital visit.

During the Eight-Man Tag Team Match on Monday Night Raw, Ivar suffered a cervical injury on a Viking Dive to the floor. As a precaution, Ivar was transported to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. WWE.com

After the injury, the improvised finish to the match ended up botched when Ricochet kicked out from Cedric Alexander’s Michinoku Driver at two. Seemingly Ricochet was unaware this was the new finish, and the referee would count three regardless.

Matt Hardy was hospitalized following a scary bump at All Out, which saw him hit his head on the concrete floor. It didn’t look good, but AEW’s doctor would allow him to finish the match, which caused a lot of debate on social media.

Hardy is thankfully home and is scheduled to be on this week’s Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite after it was confirmed he didn’t suffer a concussion.

Nobody would blame him for taking a few days off, but he is still fulfilling Cameo requests, and in one would discuss being stuck in the hospital.

I hope you’re doing well. I just got home. I was in the hospital for a couple of days. I took a very bad bump and smashed myself on the concrete. I did a bunch of tests and evaluations, and they just wouldn’t let me go, so I was stuck in the hospital, and I know you’ve been there recently, and it sucks.

I’m so happy to be out and be back home.Matt Hardy

We reported following WWE’s Payback pay-per-view that Rey Mysterio was set to miss considerable time after tearing his triceps. It’s now been confirmed that unlike Edge, who suffered a torn triceps during his match against Randy Orton and will be out until next year, Mysterio’s is not as severe. It was actually a partial tear, and Mysterio has opted to have it treated with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy. PRP injections use an individual’s own healing system to improve their own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints.

Mysterio has shared on his Instagram the below video of him receiving the treatment.

It’s now believed Mysterio will be able to return to the ring in time for WWE’s Hell in a Cell pay-per-view scheduled for November 1st.

Dave Meltzer has been reporting on wrestling since the 1980’s, and while a lot of wrestlers have accepted him and are in regular contact with him. These include some of the wrestling’s biggest names, such as Chris Jericho, Bret Hart, Konnan, Terry Funk, and The Rock.

However, many wrestlers detest him and consider him an outsider ruining the business. Hulk Hogan would even famously burn a copy of Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter during a WCW’s pay-per-view. The hatred for Meltzer escalated this past weekend when Rusev said that Meltzer is hellbound, and now Ryback has suggested that the world would be a better place if he were dead, as you can read below.

Ryback would sensibly delete the tweet after being called out by fans for spreading hate. Though later he did tweet a reworded version removing the mention of death, he would likely avoid being suspended by the social media platform.

Even though The Hype Bros lasted on and off for three years, the team of Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley never made a meaningful impact on either NXT or SmackDown. Fans saw them as two guys just put together as WWE had nothing else for them, and WWE never consistently pushed them. Now speaking to Fightful, the former Zack Ryder, now known as Matt Cardona, would reveal he wasn’t a fan of the tag, and hated working with Mojo.

I love Mojo personally. I hated working with him professionally. No, when we first started as the Hype Bros in NXT I didn’t know anything about Mojo, he didn’t know anything about me. It was Triple H, I believe it was his idea to put us together, and if it was Triple H’s idea and this was an opportunity for me, I said, “alright, let’s do it. Let’s make this work however we can.”

I was going for the US title on a pay-per-view. I remember Arn Anderson was the producer of the match and he was saying, “Okay, then Mojo’s going to run out.” I was like, “Mojo? He’s not here.” He was hidden on a bus. I was so pissed he didn’t tell me. He was hidden on a bus. At that point in my career I did not want to do The Hype Bros.

Then I got injured, and the first thing that popped in my mind was, “oh, my God, yes! The Hype Bros are done!” Then Mojo went on to win the WrestleMania battle royal that year. I was like, “oh, my God, they’re definitely done.” I was so excited. Listen, everything changes all the time. But, the plan was for me to come back and be in the Money in the Bank match that year. I say plan, like, things change all the time. But, I ended up coming back the week before, making my big comeback in a backstage pre-tape with Mojo saying, “I’m back, bro.” Then we worked on the kickoff match against Epico and Primo. I’m like, “Well, back to the Hype Bros again.”Matt Cardona

Cardona would, though, make sure to put Mojo over as a performer in his own right, especially as a heel.

He has a great promo. He can do it all vocally, and in the ring I think he’s great, too. I think he’s a great, great heel. I think as a babyface he’s too annoying for me, personally.Matt Cardona

Cardona was released by WWE back in April and is now making a home for himself in AEW. Rawley is still gainfully employed, and it appeared 2020 would be a big year for Mojo after co-hosting Wrestlemania 36 alongside real-life friend Rob Gronkowski. However, once Gronowski returned to the NFL, Mojo’s TV time faded away, and his career is back in limbo.

Brodie Lee worked for Vince McMahon for many years, so he knows all about his quirks and character traits. After debuting in AEW as “The Exalted One,” he would feature in vignettes that appeared t be parodying WWE’s head honcho. In one, he would eat a streak, Vince McMahon’s food of choice, and reprimand Alex Reynolds for sneezing in front of him, as Vince McMahon can not tolerate sneezing. It was amusing, and fans quickly got the joke.

Now speaking to Wrestling Inc, Brodie Lee has shared that he never intended his character to be seen as a Vince McMahon parody and did want fans to think he was a bitter former employee.

Obviously, there was a couple of little Easter eggs and things that people could very easily pick up on, but as a whole, the character was never meant to be a Vince McMahon parody. But there was definitely a couple jabs his way in the early going. Once I realized that that was everything that people were going to talk about, I wanted to get away from that as quickly as possible because I wanted it to be more about me, more about my identity, and more about my journey to where we’re going. I didn’t want to be seen as that bitter ex-employee. I don’t want that label on me whatsoever.Brodie Lee

That said, some opportunities are too good to pass up, and with all the contention regarding WWE banning talent from working with third parties, Lee would take another jab. He’d ask Evil Uno what his Twitch username was during this week’s Being The Elite, and after being told, would reply saying, “not any f*cking more.”

WWE talent has until October 2nd to end their relationships with third parties, and one of the wrestlers with most to lose is Xavier Woods. His YouTube channel UpUpDownDown has a massive following with 2.21 million subscribers. He is also working with video game developer Riot Games to create Esports experiences and is looking to do presenting work on the soon to be revived G4 television channel. Now speaking to the newLEGACYinc Twitch channel, he reveals he doesn’t know whats going on with WWE’s mandate but does seem to be remaining optimistic.

I have no answers, I have no idea what is going on. I think I’m fine, I think most people are fine, but we’ll find out. I don’t know. I’m not the person to ask. I wish I knew more, but I don’t, unfortunately. We’re gonna stream as much as we can, for as long as we can. I’m just trying to build an audience so that when I get my G4 gig, we have a built-in crew. Keep my game name alive.Xavier Woods

Woods started UpUpDownDown under his Austin Creed moniker in 2015, which might be a workaround for the ban. However, WWE hasn’t been forthcoming with answers, and as Woods acknowledges, talent doesn’t know what’s going on. Woods, who was injured at a live event in October last year, has used his time on the sidelines to further build his gaming brand, so losing his channel likely sour his relationship with WWE.

We recently reported that Dave Meltzer had claimed that Lana’s endorsements of Bang energy drinks had caused all talent to lose their ability to earn money with third parties. Lana would take to Twitter to dispute this, and now her husband Rusev has given his opinion on Dave Meltzer during his Twitch stream this afternoon.

[adthrive-in-post-video-player video-id=”Qnj5Zzg8″ upload-date=”2020-09-07T01:03:52.000Z” name=”Miro On Meltzer” description=”” player-type=”default” override-embed=”default”]

The motherf*cker, what’s his fricking face? Meltzer, once again, putting out bullsh*t out there. I’m f*cking tired of this f*cking guy. Like honestly man, get the f out of here. Who the f are you to speak things like that? First of all, those are not true, they are all fricking bullsh*t lies. This man, one day he’s going to burn in hell, it’s like 100%.Rusev
He has a personal agenda because he’s got something against CJ.

This guy has no knowledge. He has zero knowledge. Yeah, he’s got people from the office that feed him meaningless stuff. Rusev

Those were strong words from Rusev, who obviously isn’t a Wrestling Observer subscriber, the most well known “dirt sheet” in the business. Meltzer started the publication in the 1980’s, and Konnan has also claimed to have seen a copy on McMahon’s desk. That, though, doesn’t carry much weight with Rusev, who speaking from first-hand experience, believes Meltzer makes up stories.

Paige is making big money on Twitch; it’s been speculated that given her subscriber base and the revenue split with Twitch, she makes around $45,000 a month. So given WWE have told their talent they can no longer do their own deals won’t have pleased her. She would take almost immediate action by changing her channel name from OfficialPaigeWWE to sarayaofficial to try and get around this.

Paige, who is retired from in-ring competition but still has four years on her WWE contract, would take to her channel to reassure her subscribers that she has no intention of leaving Twitch and declared herself the “Queen of Twitch,” as you can hear in the below clip.

[adthrive-in-post-video-player video-id=”0IYH9di4″ upload-date=”2020-09-06T19:50:28.000Z” name=”Paige Twitch Video” description=”” player-type=”default” override-embed=”default”]

Just so you guys know, this is all going to be changed. It’s gonna be changed to SarayaMania. Everything’s going to change to Saraya, my real name. But we are not getting rid of our Twitch guys. We are here to stay. We are here to stay, you guys, we are not going anywhere. Twitch is our house; I’m the queen of Twitch. There is no chance in hell we are getting rid of my stream. We’re here to stay.Paige

It remains to be seen if a simple name change will allow WWE talent to skirt the rules on working with third parties, or if the promotion will clamp down further. Talent is expected to find out more next week when they tape television, as currently there is a lot of unanswered question.

At last night’s All Out pay-per-view, Matt Hardy took on Sammy Guevara in a Broken Rules match where if Hardy lost, he had to leave AEW. During the match, the pair were meant to crash through two tables off a cherry picker. Unfortutanlty the bump went wrong as Matt overshot and smashed his head on the concrete and appeared to be unconscious. It was very scary, and Hardy would bravely or foolishly, depending on your perspective, get up to beat the ten count.

You can watch the bump below for yourself.

[adthrive-in-post-video-player video-id=”AdsuqKXT” upload-date=”2020-09-06T13:02:31.000Z” name=”Matt Hardy All Out Bump” description=”” player-type=”default” override-embed=”default”]

Referee Aubrey Edwards would make the X symbol, and the match was paused. After a lengthy delay, the doctor cleared Matt to continue, and the wrestlers went straight to the finish with both men climbing scaffolding. Hardy knocked Guevara off with them about fifteen feet up, and Guevera landed on a crash mat and counted down for the ten.

Following the match, as a precautionary measure, Hardy was taken to the hospital for a potential MRI scan. Hardy’s wife Reby angrily took to Twitter, upset with her husband taking such a bump, and would share the below screenshot of their conversation.

After All Out concluded, Tony Khan would tell members of the media that his talent’s health and safety is the most important thing. He clarified that that doctor had given a concussion protocol test before the match continued and Hardy was OK. He did note it was a scary moment.

Chris Jericho would discuss the bump on his Saturday Night Special he streamed following All Out, confirming Hardy would be fine, but added, “he was knocked for a loop for sure.”

Earlier today, we informed readers that pro wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer had claimed Lana was responsible for WWE talent no longer being able to do their own deals. Meltzer said the adverts she did endorsing Bang energy drinks was the straw that broke the camel’s back. However, Lana has taken to Twitter to refute Meltzer’s claim, seemingly not wanting the rest of the roster blaming her for many of them losing considerable income.

Since WWE wrestlers are spending much less time traveling and making appearances, many had the time to build up additional revenue streams. But it seems now those days are over regardless of who or what prompted WWE’s decision.

You can watch what is likely the final video Lana has made independently for Bang energy drinks below.
