When the topic of the best wrestler in the world comes up, WWE fans will typically say Roman Reigns due to his dominating run as Universal Champion. In contrast, AEW fans will usually reply by saying Kenny Omega for his in-ring ability. Of course, determining the best is always subjective, but it doesn’t stop the debate raging on. However, after a Twitter user said that the WWE star couldn’t last five minutes in the ring with Omega, he replied himself, putting over Reigns. He did this by acknowledging him as being WWE’s top wrestler for a reason and saying a match between the pair would surprise people.

Unfortunately, it seems unlikely the match will ever occur as Omega still has over 18 months on his AEW contract, and by then, it is expected Reigns will have transitioned into acting, only wrestling a limited schedule. Nevertheless, considering how much tribalism there is when it comes to AEW and WWE, it is great to see a wrestler acknowledge a rival as being talented and not being afraid to put them over publicly.

Bill DeMott, who is best known to wrestling fans as Hugh Morrus, tragically lost his 20-year-old daughter Keri Anne due to a drunk driver in October 2015. Given this, he clearly feels strongly about people driving while inebriated and launched the Keri Anne Demott Foundation to honor her memory and encourage people to make the right decisions. Now following the news that former wrestling star Tammy Lynn Sytch has been arrested for DUI manslaughter, he has called via a press release for her to be removed from the WWE Hall of Fame.

49-year-old Sytch was involved in a three-vehicle car crash on March 25th, and while she claimed she had a seizure at the wheel, toxicology results revealed she had a blood-alcohol level 3 ½ times the legal limit allowed to operate a motor vehicle. As a result, she faces up to 30 years in prison and is currently out on $227,500 bail. However, there have been calls for her to be incarnated until the trial due to her being a danger to others. And since she has been arrested at least six times previously for DUI, it is an understandable concern.

With regards to DeMott’s call for Sytch to be removed from the WWE Hall of Fame following her 2011 induction, there has been a past precedent for this occurring. As back in 2015, Hulk Hogan was removed after a tape featuring him making racist remakes was leaked. Although WWE did later reinstall him and even inducted him for a second time as part of the nWo. Additionally, later that same year, Jimmy Snuka was charged with involuntary manslaughter and third-degree murder 32 years after the death of his girlfriend, Nancy Argentino. WWE would quietly remove him from their website’s Hall of Fame section, clearly wanting to distance themselves from the crime. Yet he wouldn’t face justice as he was deemed unfit for trial, and WWE posted a tribute to him when he passed away in 2017.

While Eric Bischoff has made appearances for AEW previously, he seemingly soured on the company at some point and is more than happy to take shots at the company. In fact, he also takes shots at AEW talent, as after CM Punk said him signing for AEW was bigger than Nash and Hall joining WCW, Bischoff would say that “Punk has sh*t the bed” and “Punk hasn’t delivered.”  It now appears Punk hasn’t forgotten this, as following a clip from Bischoff’s 83 Weeks podcast, where the former WCW head honcho said that AEW needs to “stop booking for one small segment of the audience,” Punk would jump on this opportunity to retaliate. Saying that Bischoff had his moment in the sun, and fans should let him and others like him “die in the dark with their ego podcasts.

Wrestling twitter needs to stop amplifying all the old head bad faith bad take carny dipshits. They had their moment in the sun. Let them die in the dark with their ego podcasts. Quote me.CM Punk

As of writing, Bischoff hasn’t responded to Punk’s tweet, and he may be wise to simply ignore it, considering how Punk usually has no filter when it comes to burying people on social media. However, having given Bischoff’s tweet attention, it will likely encourage him to continue bashing the company. Which considering that AEW allowed him to return to the wrestling industry after WWE fired him as executive director of SmackDown after only a few months in the job, does seem unappreciative.

WWE recently fired Nash Carter after his estranged wife Kimber Lee tweeted out a private photo of him imitating Adolf Hitler after initially making abuse allegations against him. It’s believed WWE wasn’t interested in those allegations as there wasn’t proof, but the photo was highly offensive and didn’t leave them any other option. Now though, with his 30-day non-compete clause having expired, he has been announced under his former ring name Zachary Wentz as appearing on Circle 6’s upcoming show on May 21st, which is taking place in Orlando, Florida.

While some fans of the promotion are pleased to see him being brought in, others have called it disappointing and said they wouldn’t be attending. The fact that Carter has yet to explain the photo, which is believed to be several years old, nor apologized likely doesn’t help. However, that is his right, add it’s likely Circle 6 went into booking him prepared for the backlash, feeling his name recognition and ability was worth this. Whether this is just the first of many upcoming indie appearances remains to be seen, but how this show goes could greatly influence his long-term wrestling future.

Over the weekend, Roman Reigns’ WWE future was called into question when he told the crowd in New Jersey that he wasn’t sure he’d be returning to the venue again as he was entering a new phase of his life. Given that WWE’s Nick Khan has previously stated WWE has a plan for him to crossover into movies, it seemed this was what he was referring to, and he was perhaps going to depart the company.

Now though, Dave Meltzer has reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Reigns has actually signed a new contract with WWE, effectively making him a part-timer like Brock Lesnar. Therefore it appears he won’t be doing many more house shows like the one in New Jersey from now on.

This is not it for him, but the situation is that he got a new deal, and the new deal is for far less dates. I don’t know how many house shows he’s gonna be doing, but it will be much less than the number that he’s doing now. It’s one of the perks of being there for a while and being valuable there is you can kind of call certain shots, and he’s got the power to maintain the championship and work fewer dates like Brock Lesnar has and Hulk Hogan used to have. He’s gonna be in a new phase of his life. He’s got young kids and everything like that, in his mid to late 30s. He probably wants to preserve his body a little bit more.Dave Meltzer

With house shows being one of WWE’s least profitable revenue streams, it is doubtful that having Reigns miss those shows will be a big issue. However, suppose he begins to miss television tapings and pay-per-view events as Lesnar does. In that case, it will likely have a detrimental effect. Nevertheless, with the company building around Reigns so heavily over the past few years, it could now force them to create new full-time stars for the future, with Cody Rhodes, Bron Breakker, and Omos seemingly being the most likely to benefit.

During Sunday night’s WrestleMania Backlash show, Ronda Rousey would defeat Charlotte Flair in an I Quit match after applying an armbar through a steel chair. Afterward, WWE would announce that Flair had suffered a fractured radius and encouraged fans to visit WWE.com for updates. While it was clearly a storyline injury, many assumed it was simply a way for Flair to sell the armbar and explain why she’d lost the match.

However, during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer would reveal it was done to allow Flair time off to marry AEW’s Andrade El Idolo. Meltzer wouldn’t know how long she would be away from television but added the couple was set to have a honeymoon. Given this and the injury that WWE decided to say she’d suffered, which typically takes around three months to heal, she’ll likely return in time for SummerSlam on July 30, 2022.

Charlotte and Andrade went public with their relationship back in 2019 and kicked off 2020 on a high note by announcing that they were engaged. Rumors, though, spread in late 2021 that they’d separated after eagle-eyed fans spotted Andrade had unfollowed Charlotte on social media. This led to a report by Bodyslam.net that Flair had ended their engagement, yet this was either inaccurate, or the pair simply rekindled their romance as Charlotte subsequently shared photos on Instagram showing them looking very happy together.

Somewhat surprisingly, Brian Cage had his AEW contract renewed by Tony Khan earlier this year despite him not being frequently used. Before this, many fans had speculated he could potentially return to WWE due to his impressive look, which had dramatically changed since he was part of their developmental program. Now, in a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, Cage has revealed that he has indeed spoken to the company a few times, once about signing with NXT and another about competing on Tough Enough. However, he was told he was “too indie” and then “average at best.

They gave me the reason that I’m a little too indie, and I need to get some more experience. So I have to go to the indies to get more experience and not be so indie? Hmm, ok, that makes sense.Brian Cage

They did call to say that they were going to do Tough Enough and bring me back for it, but then they took me off the list. They invited me down and wanted me on NXT, but then they changed their minds again. I asked what happened, and they said, “You are average at best, and we are no longer interested.” They sent that in a text, and I was so heated. I kept it as professional as I could. There was a lot I wanted to say.Brian Cage

Based on this, it seems like the former Impact World Champion won’t be joining WWE anytime soon. Nevertheless, with him being under contract with AEW for another year, that isn’t an immediate concern for him. In fact, his last appearance for a Tony Khan-owned promotion was at Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor XV on April 1, 2022, where he aligned with Tully Blanchard. So seemingly, this indicates his future is actually away from AEW, but Khan does still value in using him.

WWE was at the Cure Insurance Arena in Trenton, New Jersey, with a show headlined by Roman Reigns vs. Drew McIntyre on Saturday night. Unsurprisingly Reigns would be victorious, yet Reigns did leave the fans in attendance, and, subsequently, those on social media shocked after taking the mic following the match. The WWE star did this by thanking the crowd for all their support over the years and stating he doesn’t know if he’ll be back to wrestle in front of them again because he is starting to work on a new phase of his career.

[adthrive-in-post-video-player video-id=”fc4pF30W” upload-date=”2022-05-08T20:09:49.000Z” name=”Video Credit: twitter.com/myrofr/status/1523138924037685248″ description=”” player-type=”default” override-embed=”default”]

The above video would quickly spread on social media, and Reigns would trend with fans concerned he is preparing to step away from wrestling or at least become a part-timer. Although Fightful Select has since reported that WWE higher-ups and staff haven’t been informed of Reigns taking any upcoming extended absences, and he is still involved in their creative plans for the foreseeable future.

It has seemed inevitable that Reigns would eventually pursue an acting career after he dipped his toe in the water, appearing in Hobbs & Shaw and The Wrong Missy. Plus, Nick Khan has previously disclosed in an interview on The Town with Matthew Belloni that WWE has a plan in place to help Reigns cross over, saying The Rock is the blueprint for achieving this. Nevertheless, it seems unavoidable that Reigns and The Rock will clash in the ring at some point. However, instead of it being The Rock putting over Reigns, it could end up being Reigns’ WWE swansong.

On Friday evening, it was reported that Tammy Lynn Sytch, known best to wrestling fans as Sunny, had been arrested for her involvement in a three-vehicle car crash that saw a 75-year-old man killed. In total, she faces nine charges, with DUI manslaughter being the most serious, and her bond was set at a massive $227,500. Now, further information has been provided by NewsDaytonaBeach.com regarding the arrest, revealing it occurred at the Hard Rock Hotel in Daytona Beach. Additionally, toxicology results proved she had a blood-alcohol level of 0.280 (g/100mL) which is shockingly 3 ½ times the legal limit allowed while operating a motor vehicle.

Despite the high amount, Sytch did manage to post bail on Saturday after a bail bond agent who typically requires a 10% guarantee posted a surety bond for her. And considering she spent less than a day incarcerated, it is speculated she had everything in order beforehand, given the tragic incident happened on March 25th, 2022. Nevertheless, she had previously claimed that despite witnesses disputing this, she wasn’t speeding, and a seizure caused her to crash.

While it is well-known Sunny’s life has been troubled by legal issues over the years, NewsDaytonaBeach.com would also divulge that in December 2021, Sytch was involved with the Daytona Beach Police Department three separate times. The first time saw the police leave without making an arrest having calmed the argument between Sytcha and her boyfriend. However, the second time saw her temporarily detained so her drug status could be evaluated when she refused to check out of a hotel. Then almost two weeks later, she was again questioned by police after reporting her boyfriend for having what was described as a crystalline substance after searching his pants for Xanax tablets.

A video of this conversation can be viewed below and shows the officer telling Sytch that she needs to make better choices.

[adthrive-in-post-video-player video-id=”qZbn68PB” upload-date=”2022-05-08T18:58:12.000Z” name=”Video Credit: facebook.com/watch/?v=689347302270561″ description=”” player-type=”default” override-embed=”default”]

Additionally, both Sytch and her boyfriend are being sued by the family of the man killed, who are seeking more than $30,000. The reason her boyfriend is also being held responsible is because the motor vehicle she was driving was his, and she had his consent to drive it despite him knowing she didn’t have a current license. Yet, while this is a significant concern for her boyfriend, for Sytch, it is less pressing considering she could be sentenced to 30 years in prison if found guilty on all charges.

With Dax Harwood and CM Punk repeatedly talking about Bret Hart on social media and the Owen Hart Foundation tournament currently in progress, some fans believe the former WWE Champion is AEW-bound. The prominent rumor had been he’d be managing FTR due to appearing alongside them on an indie show. However, Dave Meltzer subsequently reported that Hart might be under a contract with WWE, which would prevent him from working with AEW. Despite this, the rumors continue, and during an interview with Lucha Libre Online, he has said that while he’d be glad to help individuals out via phone, he is happy being at home and wants to be remembered as a wrestler, not a manager.

Well, I’m happily retired. I’m a home guy now, and there’s not a lot I can do in wrestling. People say, “What are you going to do? What would you do in AEW?” And it’s like, what would I do? Referee? Manage? Be a chairman? It’s like I don’t want to be remembered that way. I want to be remembered as a wrestler.

I’d be happy to help a lot of them, and I know a lot of them, and I talk to them, a lot of them sometimes by text or on the phone, and people call me up. I always got advice, and I can always pinpoint little things that can make a difference in a guy’s match or something he’s doing, but I’m a guy that likes being home. So they’re gonna have to call me on the phone.Bret Hart

While Hart does have a WWE Legends deal allowing the company to make figures and t-shirts of him, this wouldn’t have prevented him from working with AEW as Jake Roberts has the same agreement. Seemingly though, Hart has no interest in being an AEW regular, which is understandable as he’s 64 years old and has suffered health issues. That said, if he does receive an offer he couldn’t refuse, he certainly would be welcomed by fans and wrestlers with open arms.

Vince Russo is a very polarizing figure in wrestling, with some fans considering him the man solely responsible for WWE’s success during the Attitude Era. In contrast, others believe he was just fortunate to be in a spot at the time when Steve Austin, The Rock, and Mankind became massive stars. Additionally, many put some of the blame on him for the downfall of both WCW and TNA who he also wrote for.

Now during an interview with the Pounding The Meat YouTube show, the writer has revealed that he has been trying to get paid as a consultant for WWE since a few months ago. However, while Vince McMahon was open to receiving the feedback, he wasn’t prepared to compensate Russo, so he turned down the opportunity. Nevertheless, Russo would still tell him that WWE’s product “sucks, bro.

A couple of months ago. I was offering my help as a consultant. I didn’t want to be hired, I’m never gonna work in that environment again, but I was like, “Bro, your show freaking sucks. Seriously, are you watching?” It was that conversation all over again.

How that ended was Vince wanted me to watch Raw for a couple of weeks and give my feedback. I’m like, bro, I’ll be happy to do that; I ain’t doing that for free. Your product sucks, bro. I’m willing to help you. I’m not gonna jump through hoops to help you. If you wanna pay me to critique the show for the next couple of months, I’ll be happy to do that. But I certainly was not gonna do that for free because the product is horrible.

Vince Russo

Russo has been looking for a role with WWE for years and previously divulged he’d also contacted Shane McMahon about sharing his ideas to improve the product. Seemingly though, the company isn’t interested in bringing him back, given they now have an entire writing team overseen by Bruce Prichard. Additionally, while many fans and critics believe the product is a long way from its best, WWE makes more money now than at any other time in its history, so McMahon is likely hesitant to change things drastically.

Given the nature of Impact Wrestling, it isn’t uncommon for talents to come and go with contracts often short. And now, it has been confirmed by the talents themselves on Twitter that Jonah and Willie Mack have departed the promotion. While Jonah wouldn’t indicate whether it was a mutual decision for him to move on, Mack would say he had turned down a contract extension and was now taking extra independent bookings.

The former NXT wrestler Jonah, best known as Bronson Reed, made his Impact Wrestling debut at Turning Point in November 2021 and wrestled his first match for them on December 2nd. Since then, he has been prominently featured, although he did lose to Josh Alexander at Hard To Kill in January 2022, and in what was his final match for the promotion, he put over PCO in a Monster’s Ball in a match taped on April 24th. It should, though, be noted that while he is no longer contracted to Impact Wrestling, he is still signed with New Japan and has been a regular on their US shows.

Regarding Mack, he had most recently been teaming with Rich Swann. Yet, he was an established singles star, having debuted for Impact Wrestling in 2018 and previously held the X Division Championship. Away from Impact, he wrestles for AAA and is active on the independents, recently winning a tournament to be crowned XPW World Champion. However, he did drop the title the same night in an impromptu match to Brain Cage.
