Will Ospreay To Miss This Week’s AEW Television Tapings

Will Ospreay has been wrestling for AEW for some time due to the promotions working relationship with New Japan. Therefore, it wasn’t a huge surprise when it was announced that he’d officially become All Elite at last November’s Full Gear with his New Japan contract set to expire.

Subsequently, the British star has become one of AEW’s most prominently featured wrestlers, and many fans suspect it’s only a matter of time before he wins the AEW World Championship. However, any fans looking forward to seeing him in action during this week’s Dynamite or any of AEW’s other shows this week will be disappointed, as Fightful Select has reported he has been given the week off.

“We’re told Will Ospreay has the week off this week, after working Double or Nothing, Dynamite, Collision last week. He’s expected to return next week.”

31-year-old Ospreay made his in-ring debut back in 2012 as the masked character Dark Britannico and soon became a fixture on the British independent circuit. His big break would then come in 2016 when, following the recommendation of AJ Styles, Kazuchika Okada, and Hiroshi Tanahashi, he would join New Japan, where he would have many match-of-the-year contenders. Therefore, once he decided to leave the Japanese promotion, WWE, AEW, and even TNA were very enthusiastic about signing him, with Tony Khan ultimately winning out thanks to being able to offer a lighter schedule and more money.
