Last weekend, fans learned about several WWE releases, with some coming as a bigger surprise than others. However, one big talking point was about someone not being released, with WWE letting go of Isla Dawn while keeping her tag team partner Alba Fyre employed. And while some suspected it may be because WWE was showing sympathy towards the Scottish wrestler because her mother tragically died last year after being hit by a car while visiting her daughter in Florida, former WWE writer Russo has a very different theory.
This would be disclosed during a recent podcast appearance for Sportskeeda’s Wrestle Binge, where he suggested that someone with influence “probably has a crush on” her. Which, if true, would be a terrible look for the company, given Janel Grant’s lawsuit against them.
After her sad loss, 32-year-old Fyre would only take a few weeks away from the ring. And while that didn’t feel like enough time given the circumstances, with The Unholy Union set to challenge for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships at Clash at the Castle in her home country, she needed to return in order to feature on the show. Still, despite Fyre and Dawn being victorious on the night, there was a depressing feeling hanging over the match, as her mother would likely been in attendance to witness the win if not for the accident.
