Update On Mustafa Ali’s WWE Release Request

Update On Mustafa Ali’s WWE Release Request

This past weekend Mustafa Ali posted on Twitter that he had requested his WWE release. Later, it would be divulged that he had previously argued with Vince McMahon over a proposed gimmick and had been home ever since. Now it has been reported by Fightful Select that WWE has turned down the wrestler’s request, which is unfortunate as he has multiple years left on his contract.

While WWE has been releasing countless wrestlers out of their contracts to save money, this typically happens on WWE’s terms. This was evident when Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado requested their own releases in September 2021 but had to wait two months for WWE to include them along with other cuts.

Ali’s last match for WWE was on the 29th October episode of SmackDown in a two-minute defeat against Drew McIntyre. Since then, he has been home, with it initially believed he was simply on paternity leave following the birth of his third child. However, that was apparently only for one show, and he has been waiting to return since.
