In very unexpected news, it has been reported by Fightful Select that Jimmy Jacobs, previously considered an important part of AEW’s creative team, has resigned from the company. No specific reason was given, although it was noted that the 40-year-old, who still wrestles on the indie scene, had been burnt out recently.
“Fightful Select’s Sean Ross Sapp has confirmed that Jimmy Jacobs has finished up with All Elite Wrestling. We’re told that Jacobs effectively resigned over the past week, and that the two sides remain on amicable terms. We’re told that AEW is going to look at the move as a way to freshen up the writers room, and that Jacobs had been burned out of late.”
Fightful SelectJacobs broke into the business in 1999 and made his name via Ring of Honor, where he shared a ring with future stars like Claudio Castagnoli, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Adam Cole, and Sami Zayn. And while he wouldn’t achieve the same level of fame as these wrestlers, he would still get to work for WWE as a creative team member. However, his time with the company ended after he shared a photograph with The Young Bucks, Adam Page, and Marty Scurll, who were filming a fake invasion of Raw for their YouTube channel.
