Recently, it became known that Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fénix, collectively known as the Lucha Brothers, would soon be free agents, with one report even claiming their contacts had already expired and they’d signed with WWE. And while this could possibly be the case with Penta, it has been reported via Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that AEW has added around a year to Fénix current deal due to the time he has been out injured, meaning he isn’t going anywhere.
Not much is known about the brothers regarding their personal life, with their real names even kept secret from fans. However, it is believed that they started training at the same time despite being several years apart in age. Initially, they would focus on their singles careers, and both have won multiple individual titles, although they have notably held tag team gold in AEW, AAA, Impact Wrestling, ROH, MLW, and as a team. Thus, they were expected to soon be holding WWE tag team gold, although that seems to be delayed until at least 2025.
