Earlier this week, CM Punk stirred the pot by saying, “I wasted some matches on some people in AEW,” during an interview. Subsequently, fans would begin looking through his match history and identifying wrestlers that perhaps Punk was referring to, with QT Marshall’s name frequently being mentioned because they wrestled on the Thanksgiving Eve episode of Dynamite in 2021.
However, having been made aware of this, Marshall has taken to X to say when he was booked against Punk, it was because the current WWE wrestler had specifically requested Tony Khan book him against someone “who won’t go into business for himself and try and get over with the audience.”
39-year-old Marshall broke into the wrestling business via the Monster Factory in 2004 and worked on the independent circuit for several years before having spells with both ROH and WWE. Yet, his big break wouldn’t truly come until 2019, when he joined AEW as a wrestler and associate producer on the recommendation of his close friend Cody Rhodes. And while he would never be pushed, he did get to work a program with former WWE star Paul Wight in addition to putting over future stars like Swerve Strickland, Orange Cassidy, and Darby Allin.
