In recent years, 81-year-old Afa Anoa’i, best known to wrestling fans for being part of the legendary Wild Samoans tag team, has been dealing with various health issues, including two recent heart attacks. And now, to make matters worse, his son has confirmed via his Facebook Page that he has suffered a nasty fall and fractured his back and is therefore asking for prayers.
“My father fell and fractured his back in 2 places. He is currently being transferred into a different hospital. Continued prayers are requested as well as privacy during these stressful times. The family will post updates as they come.”
Afa Anoa'i Jr.Anoa’i broke into the business back in 1973 after being trained by Peter Maivia, the grandfather of The Rock. He, along with longtime tag partner Sika, would subsequently travel worldwide and capture 21 tag team championships, three of which were the WWF World Tag Team Championship during their career. Subsequently, they were honored by WWE in 2007 when they were inducted into their Hall of Fame. And while they have been out of the spotlight for many years, they did appear at Hell in a Cell in 2020 to celebrate Roman Reigns’ victory over Jey Uso.
