The first live “Grilling JR” show with Jim Ross and Conrad Thompson started with a bang in Jacksonville with unheard and behind the curtain stories, no one has heard previously. One story that JR recalled was that Vince McMahon originally wanted to pass on signing Randy Orton due to his dishonorable discharge from the Marines before eventually getting talked around. Questioned by Thompson on McMahon not wanting to sign Orton due to the discharge even though he’s a second generation. Ross would respond saying:

No, it didn’t matter. McMahon is that patriotic. I’m not saying it’s the right thing to do, we did it cause I talked him into it. ‘We gotta give him a chance. Everybody deserves a chance, Vince.’ He said it all the time. ‘Let’s give this kid a chance.’ Cause he’s getting one chance now, right? One chance. If it don’t work, he’s done with us. For f’n ever. There’ll be no more recalls and there will be no more call backs; we’re done. But he deserves a chance.’

Orton would go to become a 13-time world champion, one-time Intercontinental Champion, one-time United States Champion, two-time Tag Team Champion, two-time Royal Rumble winner, and Mr. Money In The Bank.

Wrestling legend Vampiro, best known for his work in WCW, CMLL, AAA, and Lucha Underground, recently shared some sad news regarding his health.

Taking to his Facebook to share the unfortunate news. Vampiro revealed that he had recently been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

Living in critical pain, chronic arthritis throughout his body, along with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s. Vampiro is In desperate need of stem cell replacement therapy. Yet, in inspiring fashion, Vampiro continues to live life with a positive outlook and a motivation to see his daughter’s successes in life.

Vampiro revealed the sad news posting the following:

“Got some results from the doctor yesterday
Not the best of news
But in my heart I know it’s a fight I am gonna win
I am not worried about anything
I am worried about how I can give more back to everyone who needs support
I Don’t give a f*ck about being sick , as me and my doctors have a plan! And I will be fine!
Alzheimer’s is bullshit. I am scared about potential Parkinson’s disease because it might f*ck up my PlayStation time I have been beaten up for so long , this is an easy one

Hours later, Vampiro uploaded a video to Facebook thanking all of his fans for their support. He would also go into more detail about his condition:

“Nothin but love! thank you for all the support… it’s in the beginning stages , not worried about it. I will beat this … it’s not that big a deal , I am doing what’s right and , well, I am looking forward to the fight!!!! I am totally in a good place , it’s gonna be ok!! Oh lol it’s 2019, no memory lol , it’s all good!”
 
“I’ve got some serious trauma, brain trauma, from all the concussions… It was a serious situation. I had to leave Mexico. I think I saved my life by coming here and going into therapy, but it’s not the end of the world by any f*cking means at all. I go to the gym three or four hours a day and my diet is super clean. I’m on the right medications and the right treatments. I’m going to be fine. Alzheimer’s – I mean, you know, f*ck it. It doesn’t phase me at all. I’m awesome… I ain’t a quitter and I’m not scared to fight the good fight.”

We here at Web Is Jericho all wish Vampiro nothing but the best in his fight. We know that he’ll never give up and hope he can beat this.

It’s the 25th Anniversary of Smokey Mountain Wrestling’s “Night Of The Legends” which took place August 5th 1994 at the Knoxville Civic Center. It featured a historic tag team match between the Thrillseekers (Lance Storm and Chris Jericho) and the Heavenly Bodies (Jimmy del Ray and Tom Prichard). Not only was it one of the best matches of The Thrillseekers career, it was also the one that Chris Jericho did with a broken arm! And it ended up being his last for Smokey Mountain. Chris and Lance tell the story of that infamous match from the events leading up to it to the circumstances surrounding the broken arm to the decision to defy doctor’s orders and perform anyway to the changes they made in the match due to the injury to the events that followed. Plus, you can watch along with Chris and Lance as they break down the match move by move.
