NXT seemingly had the advantage going into this week ratings battle, with Charlotte Flair making her return to NXT to respond to Rhea Ripley’s challenge from Raw. NXT also had the main event of Tommaso Ciampa, Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne defeating Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly via DQ when Roderick Strong interfered, followed by Velveteen Dream’s return.

AEW Dynamite featured Jon Moxley beating Ortiz and then spiking Santana in the eye with the car key from the Ford GT, and Cody Rhodes taking ten lashes from MJF and Wardlow.

The final ratings saw Dynamite have 928,000 average viewers up 12% from last week, and NXT having 770,000 average viewers up 8.1%.

Both shows were against Donald Trump’s Impeachment and Democratic primaries, so an increase is good, but WWE will likely be disappointed that Charlotte Flair doesn’t seem to be the rating draw they thought she would be.

On Sunday, several armed men entered a restaurant in Irapuato, Guanajuato, where Generación XXI Promoter Gerardo Martín Landeros Mendiola was eating lunch, and shot him multiple times. They then sped off in a gray van. He sadly died before the paramedics could arrive. The feeling in Mexico is that it was a targeted execution as nobody else was shot.

There was a Generación XXI show planned for later that Sunday but was obviously canceled. Their next show is scheduled for 16th February, but that is up in the air right now, as is the future of the promotion.

Generación XXI was launched in 2016 and had been running about 20 shows per year using stars like LA Park, Rush, Bandido, and Blue Demon Jr. mixed with local talents.

A massive snowstorm is making it very difficult for fans to attend tonight’s Monday Night Raw from Salt Lake City, Utah, with over 200 crashes already reported by Utah’s Highway Patrol.

The storm is expected to last until 4 am, and officials have urged residents to stay home and avoid the roads. At one point, the show going ahead was in question, but because the talent was able to make it to the Vivint Smart Home Arena, Raw will go ahead. WWE, though are anticipating a poor turnout and planning to move fans around the area, so it doesn’t appear so on television.

If you are planning on attending, please take extra care.

Back in December, we reported that WWE had re-filed the Ryback trademark to prevent the former WWE star from registering it himself. Ryback has now taken to Twitter to ask Vince McMahon and Triple H publicly let the name go. He goes as far as to ask them to remove him from WWE history.

Ryback was named Ryan Allen Reeves from birth but legally changed his name to Ryback Allen Reeves once WWE released him.

Earlier today, WWE announced that after two years as Co-Presidents, George Barrios and Michelle Wilson are leaving the company with immediate effect. Frank A. Riddick III, who has been on WWE’s board of directors for over 11 years, has been named the company’s interim Chief Financial Officer.

The reason for their removal is rumored to be because WWE’s earnings report for the fourth quarter and full-year is expected to lower than forecast, and they are taking the fall.

The news of the management change and anticipated lower than anticipated earnings has caused WWE’s stock price to plummet more than 20% and created panic amongst investors as the below chart shows.

Back in April, WWE’s stock was at $99.25 per share, but as of writing is at $48.50, with a genuine chance of falling more when the earning results are revealed next Thursday.

Edge made an extraordinary return to the ring this past weekend during the Royal Rumble, and thanks to a $9 million deal, he will be part of the roster for the next three years.

Edge will receive $3 million per year, as long as he wrestles three matches and makes 25 appearances per year. For 2020 though, he has committed to five matches, with one of those being the Royal Rumble.

This especially generous deal is likely due to the informal conversations that Edge had with AEW before committing to WWE, and the fact WWE lacks main eventers with Edge’s name recognition.

It’s now expected Edge’s first singles match will be at either Super ShowDown In Saudi Arabia, or WrestleMania against Randy Orton, based on the angle of Orton’s vicious attack on Edge this past Monday on Raw.

On Raw last night, Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens challenged Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy for the Raw Tag Team titles. During the match, Joe went for a middle rope tope on Murphy but came up short and hit his head on the floor. You can watch the nasty landing below.

Unlike with Kairi Sane at TLC, WWE’s medical staff removed Joe from the match. Owens would finish the match alone but was pinned by Murphy, who held the tights for the win.

We can now confirm that Joe has undergone WWE’s concussion testing protocol and sadly did suffer a concussion. This could result in weeks to months away from the ring, and the timing is terrible because Joe was just picking up momentum after missing several months with a broken thumb.

Before Sunday night’s Royal Rumble event WWE Champion Brock Lesnar and NXT Superstar Matt Riddle got into a verbal altercation backstage.

Riddle’s been talking trash about Lesnar for years, and Lesnar seemingly sick of it went up to Riddle, grabbed him by the shoulder and according to Talk Sport said:

Kid, you might as well stop saying my name and tagging me in shit because you and I will never work together. Ever.

Turns out Brock Lesnar actually reads his Twitter mentions, so unfortunately for Riddle he is going to have to find someone else to make him a main roster main eventer.

WWE has yet to confirm it publicly, but United States Champion Andrade has been suspended for a WWE’s wellness policy violation. As it is his first violation, the suspension is for 30-days.

Interestingly Andrade was made aware of the suspension Monday morning, but WWE decided not to have him drop the United States Championship on Raw. Instead, his match with Humberto Carrillo ended in a DQ, and afterward, there was an injury angle with Carrillo hitting Andrade with a Hammerlock DDT on the floor.

Previously WWE has chosen to take the title of suspended wrestlers with Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, and RVD, all previously having dropped their titles after violations.

It seems WWE is ramping up its wellness policy testing because, after no violations since 2016, this is third in two months following those of Robert Roode and Primo Colon.
