It always appeared Sting was the one that got away from Vince McMahon after he opted to join TNA over WWE in the years following WCW’s closure. He would though eventually sign with WWE in 2014 and debut during the main event of Survivor Series confronting Triple H, which lead to a marquee match between the pair at WrestleMania 31.
Since then, Sting has been with the company either as a wrestler or ambassador, but it’s understood that it is no longer the case as Mattel has confirmed they’ve removed Sting from their upcoming Legends Series 7 action figure range. A new deal is always possible, but as of writing, Sting is finished with WWE, and there will be no new Sting merchandise.
Sting’s time in WWE was very mixed, as he would receive a Hall of Fame induction in 2016, and received one of his best-ever payoffs competing at WrestleMania 31. He was though, booked to lose the match to the confusion of fans around the world, and buried on commentary throughout. Sadly he would also suffer a career-ending injury in a match against Seth Rollins at 2015’s Night of Champion PPV.
Despite being retired, speculation that Sting could join AEW is already abundant on social media, especially as Sting has recently been more active on Twitter, and tweeted about AEW’s Lance Archer.
In her first appearance since beating Shayna Baszler at WrestleMania 36, Becky Lynch returned to Raw last night proclaiming that Sunday nights women’s Money In The Bank ladder match was not for a title shot in the future, but in fact for the Raw Women’s Championship. She would then relinquish the belt she had held for 398 days to Asuka, and announce to the world she was pregnant. You can watch the whole segment below.
Lynch would later take to Twitter and post the below tweet to her fans.
Becky Lynch found out she was pregnant in April, and this will be her and Seth Rollins first child. The couple got engaged in August last year.
2019 was going great for Seth Rollins. He had won the Royal Rumble, defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and SummerSlam, he won a fifth Raw Tag Team Championship (with Braun Strowman) and even was #1 in the PWI500. He was on top of the wrestling world, and the top babyface in the biggest company in the world, but it would all go downhill when he started feuding with The Fiend.
WWE booked him to be scared of The Fiend, and he’d sit in the corner shaking through fear with his eyes closed when confronted. Add the fact their Hell In A Cell encounter had one of the worst finishes ever, and even won the Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s worst match of the year and a Gooker Award from WrestleCrap.com, you know Rollins was in a bad position.
It appears though Seth Rollins was well aware of how bad he was being portrayed, and the match and feud were killing his character as he discussed it in a recent interview with TalkSPORT.
No one cared about Seth Rollins and how it affected me or how involved I was in any shape or form. So, the writing was on the wall at that point. It was time to hunker down and make some changes, and some of those are tough lessons to learn. But, that’s what happened and here we are. There’s no point lamenting the past, it’s time to move on, move into the future and figure out what you’re gonna do about it, ya know? What can you control.Seth Rollins
After losing the Universal Championship to The Fiend, Rollins would be forced to turn heel, becoming the Monday Night Messiah, and regaining his mojo again with match of the night contenders at both WrestleMania 36, and last night’s Money In The Bank. It’s unlikely though his career will hit the heights of January 2019 through August 2019 again.
It has been reported by news4sanantonio.com that on May 4th, Alberto Del Rio was arrested for second-degree sexual assault.
The assault allegedly took place the previous day, and the victim has told police that he hit her, forced her to wear a dress for him, and dance in front of him. He also said to her that if she cried, he would take her son and leave him in the road.
We understand that Del Rio’s bail was set at $50,000, but he was released on the 9th May on recognizance, which means he got bail without paying bond. If convicted, he faces between 2-20 years in prison and/or a fine of up to $10,000.
Del Rio claimed two months ago he was in talks to return to WWE later this year, but any return now seems highly unlikely.
On his Your Mom’s House podcast, comedian Tom Segura shared his thoughts with his wife and co-host Christina Pazsitzky about wrestling fans. He’d say:
After speaking to his wife, who had attended a show previously, he’d add:
While the saying is all publicity is good publicity, it will be interesting to see if the extra press he has received from his comments were worth losing the support of the wrestling community.
Roman Reigns left the Performance Center before his match against Goldberg at WrestleMania 36 due to COVID-19 concerns, causing the show to be re-written with Braun Strowman replacing him in the Universal Championship match. He hasn’t been on mentioned on WWE television since, even being edited out of a video on Raw this week. Now though, he has spoken to TMZ about the situation and explained he is staying home for his family.
We just had two newborn twins, twin boys, they’re 8 weeks old, so I had to make a decision for them.
My children are gonna be the ones to represent my name and carry our name forward. So I had to make that choice for them, to protect them being so young.
I want to be out there. I want to get back to work. I want to get back to normal, but I just feel like I have an obligation not only to my family and myself but to my community. Roman Reigns
You can watch the full interview at TMZ.com, where Reigns also discusses his WrestleMania 33 match against The Undertaker.
“Iron” Mike Tyson retired from boxing after losing in six rounds Kevin McBride in 2005. The 53-year-old WWE Hall of Famer, though has indicated he wants to return to the ring for charity exhibition fights after having stem cell research therapy, and his recent training videos have had fans salivating at the thought of watching the one time “The Baddest Man on the Planet” compete again.
Speculation is Tyson has received many offers, but so far, the most lucrative and exciting is from the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship, who pride themselves on being the world’s first legal, sanctioned, and regulated bare-knuckle fighting promotion. BKFC’s President David Feldman has told Heavy.com that he has offered Tyson $20 million and given him the option to select any fighter on the roster to be his opponent.
Despite the colossal amount of money offered, it does feel like a long shot, but former two-time heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs did just sign with BKFC in April and could make for the ideal opponent for Tyson, and be a massive hit on PPV out of curiosity alone.
With Roman Reigns unable to appear live on WWE television for the foreseeable future, possibly until a COVID-19 vaccine is available, it seems WWE is attempting to have fans forget about the Big Dog. Last night on Raw, when showing Seth Rollins cashing in his Money In The Bank contract at WrestleMania 31, WWE went out of their way to remove Reigns from the video, as you can see below.

It was the only Money In The Bank cash-in video that was edited in this way on Raw, so fuels rumors that Vince McMahon is unhappy that with Reigns for refusing to wrestle at WrestleMania 36. Reigns opted to leave the Performance Center to reduce his chances of catching COVID-19 and having his life threatened due to having a weakened immune system as a two-time cancer survivor.
Since WrestleMania, Reigns has not been named on TV, and after WWE previously cut Dean Ambrose out of a video, it might not be long until Seth Rollins is recognized by WWE as the only member of The Shield.
Due to COVID-19 forcing WrestleMania 36 to take place at the Performance Center, it wasn’t the same extravaganza fans have come to expect from the biggest show of the year. But if there was one match that will live on in highlight packages for years to come, it will be Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins, which featured Owens jumping 20ft off the WrestleMania sign onto a prone Seth Rollins on a table below.
The match though did take a toll on Owens body, as he has told RDS.ca during an interview that he either sprained or fractured his ankle. At the time of the interview, x-rays were scheduled to determine the severity of the injury, and Owens hasn’t appeared on WWE television since the match. However, that is partly due to not wanting to leave his family anymore during the pandemic.
This was not the only notable injury coming out of WrestleMania 36, because as we reported yesterday Jimmy Uso is expected to miss 6-9 months after his ladder match.
After a DUI arrest in July 2019, Jimmy Uso wasn’t used by WWE until January 2020. When he did return with brother Jay, he was put straight into a meaningful angle saving Roman Reigns from Baron Corbin and Dolph Ziggler. Shortly after WWE began building them up to challenge for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships, with The Uso’s vs. New Day vs. Miz & Morrison booked for a ladder match at WrestleMania 36.
Plans would change at the last minute when The Miz turned up sick, causing Romain Reigns to pull out of the show, and forcing WWE to switch the tag team ladder match to Jimmy Uso vs. John Morrison vs. Kofi Kingston. It appears that somewhere during that match, Jimmy suffered a severe knee injury that will require surgery. It isn’t known precisely at what point the damage occurred during the match, as it wasn’t evident watching at the time. Sadly, current estimates range from 6 to 9 months for his recovery.
This injury is also bad news for his brother and tag partner Jay, as it appears WWE doesn’t see him as a singles talent, as they had him sit out half a year when Jimmy was in WWE’s bad books following the DUI.
It was reported on Dave Meltzer’s Wrestling Observer Radio show this morning that Cain Velasquez had been released by WWE. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion joins the likes of Kurt Angle, Rusev, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows, who were released for budgetary reasons.
Meltzer would say:
As Meltzer stated, Velasquez hasn’t wrestled since Saudi Arabia’s Crown Jewel event in October 2019, where he was squashed by Brock Lesnar in just over 2 minutes due to a knee injury. Since then he has been training at the Performance Center.
The 37-year-old Velasquez has previously wrestled for AAA and had a meeting with New Japan before signing with WWE, so it’s possible his wrestling career isn’t over. He will though, need some rehabbing considering how bad he looked in his one WWE match.
