Charlotte Flair was injured in a storyline on last night’s episode of Raw following an attack by Nia Jax. Flair would later lose to Raw Women’s Champion Asuka by tapping out to the Asuka Lock. It’s understood the storyline injury was done due to fact Charlotte is scheduled to have elective surgery. The specific surgery has not been disclosed as of writing, and there are differing reports on when Charlotte will be returning. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE is hoping she can return in time for SummerSlam, while TalkSport states that following the surgery, she will take an extended break and return for the Royal Rumble in January 2021.

At the conclusion of his WWE Network Series “Undertaker: The Last Ride,” The Undertaker announced he was retiring from in-ring competition, ending a career that had begun in 1987 with World Class Championship Wrestling. The 5th, and final episode of the series focused on his cinematic Boneyard match against AJ Styles from WrestleMania 36, and he’d go on to explain it was what he was looking for with his final match.

Is it what I envisioned when I said yes to the match? Absolutely not, but it was damn good. And damn good was what I was looking for. It’s like, how do you top that?”

My career. My legacy. It speaks for itself, and I’m happy with it. At the end of the day, that’s really all that matters, and I have this other life that I need to go and experience and enjoy the fruits of my labor and enjoy the blessings that I have, my wife and my children.

If Vince was in a pinch, would I come back? I guess time will only tell there. In case of emergency break glass. You pull out The Undertaker. I mean, I would have to consider that. Never say never, but at this point in my life, and in my career, I have no desire to get back in the ring. This time the cowboy really rides away.

There’s nothing left for me to conquer. There’s nothing left for me to accomplish. The game has changed. It’s time for new guys to come up and, I don’t know, the time just seems right. The Undertaker

The Undertaker seemingly retired at the end of WrestleMania 33 in 2017 after putting over Roman Reigns in the main event, but as shown in the documentary series, he was unhappy at the match and didn’t want to end his career with what he considered a bad match. He’d return at the following years’ WrestleMania, defeating John Cena in a squash and go on to have four more matches in 2018. He’d twice wrestle in 2019 and then compete twice in 2020, once winning the Tuwaiq Trophy Gauntlet and then defeating AJ Styles in the main event of Night 1 of WrestleMania 36 in the aforementioned Boneyard match which now looks to have been his last hurrah.

The Undertaker vs. Sting has been top of many fans dream match lists since the late 90’s, but with Sting no longer with WWE, and The Undertaker in-ring career in doubt, it apparent the match will never happen. Now in an interview with ComicBook.com, The Undertaker talks about how the match would be a disappointment.

Where I kind of differ from a lot of people is I look past the marquee value, and I look on the ability to deliver. So like you said, there’s so many people that are clamoring for that match that I just don’t know that the match could deliver on the people’s expectations.

And the only reason I say that, I’ll take full responsibility, I don’t have the mobility or the same skill set that I once did that I would need to make that match great. So there’s just certain things, it’s better left to the theater of the mind to actually put it out there.

And then with the expectations being so high and the match not delivering, it would be a bigger disappointment than the match never happening at all.The Undertaker

WWE did manage to deliver a different Undertaker dream match last year when he wrestled Goldberg for the first time one-on-one in Saudia Arabia at Super Showdown. The match was poorly received and featured Goldberg botching his Jackhammer finisher and dropping The Undertaker on his head. So considering how that turned out, it’s probably for the best, we won’t get the Sting match.

Another wrestler who was named during the #SpeakingOut movement on Twitter, that has already seen Jack Gallagher released from WWE, and Matt Riddle lawyer up, is AEW’s, Jimmy Havoc. Havoc has been accused of sexual assault and striking a fan after an indie event. After the allegations made their way to AEW officials, the promotion would confirm on Twitter that Havoc is now receiving treatment and counseling.

We wish Jimmy Havoc all the best as he receives treatment and counseling in an effort to overcome the mental health and substance abuse challenges in his life. We are aware of various reports related to Jimmy. We are evaluating his status with our company and will address it when he has successfully completed his rehabilitation.@AEWrestling

It seems from the statement they issued, AEW is supporting Havoc while he receives the help he needs and will then decide on his future with promotion. Havoc’s time in AEW has not been plain-sailing as last year, he got into a fight with Excalibur at Jimmy’s Famous Seafood.

As part of the #SpeakingOut movement on Twitter, Jack Gallagher of 205 Live was accused of sexual assault at a New Year’s Eve party in 2014. The allegations came from a woman called Becky, who has now protected her tweets. Unlike with Matt Riddle, who has denied similar allegations, WWE has chosen to release Gallagher. The announcement came on WWE.com with a single sentence, and noticeably they did not wish him the best in his future endeavors.

WWE has come to terms on the release of Jack Gallagher (Jack Claffey).WWE.com

Gallagher had been with WWE since 2016, with his career highlights being part of the 2017 Royal Rumble match and wrestling Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship at Fastlane 2017.

Twitter has been filled with allegations of sexual misconduct against numerous wrestlers over the past 24 hours with #SpeakingOut trending. One of the most high profile names accused was Matt Riddle, with an allegation coming from female wrestler Candy Cartwright who claims he assaulted her in 2018. In her tweets, she describes how they were traveling in a van together, and while three other wrestlers slept, he grabbed her by the throat after she rejected his advances and had to perform a sex act on him.

Following the allegation, Matt Riddle sought legal advice, and his attorney, David J. Rose, issued the below statement stating the claims are false, and the Cartwright has been stalking him and his family.

PRESS RELEASE — REGARDING MATT RIDDLE

The allegations by this independent female performer are completely false and another attempt to harass and humiliate Mr. and Mrs. Riddle and to try to tarnish their reputation in the community. We have been aware for the last two years of this performer stalking the Riddle family. In 2019, our firm had drafted a pleading against this performer to seek an injunction for cyberstalking in the Circuit Court for Orange County, Florida. Attorney David J. Rose

WWE policy is that if a talent is arrested for what Riddle has been accused, they will be suspended. As that hasn’t happened, WWE still looks set to air Matt Riddle’s SmackDown debut tonight.

When Fox agreed to pay WWE $205 million per year for SmackDown, they were promised a sports-orientated product, and WWE seemed to be giving them what they wanted with Brock Lesnar and the debut of Cain Velasquez. Although it didn’t take long until they were replaced with the Firefly Fun House and King Corbin covered in dog food.

Now though, it seems WWE has gone too far with Jeff Hardy throwing urine in Sheamus’ face last Friday’s episode. Some people deemed the segment to be in questionable taste because it exploited Jeff Hardy’s real-life past drug issues by having Sheamus refuse to wrestle Hardy unless he passed a drug test, and Fox was not happy with it themselves, but for a different reason.

The segment would air during the initial airing of Smackdown on Fox’s East Coast feed but was edited off their West Coast feed as WWE hadn’t cleared the urine throwing with Fox beforehand. The act of throwing urine in someone’s face violated their standards and practices which govern moral, ethical, and legal implications of content they show.

WWE did a very similar segment back on the USA Network in 2006 on Raw with Shawn Michales throwing urine on Vince and Shane McMahon, but there is a big difference between what you can get away with on basic cable television than on a major US broadcast television network.

Kevin Owens made the decision to miss this week’s television tapings following the news of a positive COVID-19 test of someone who was at the last week’s tapings. His wife’s grandfather recently died from COVID-19, so he has first-hand knowledge of how dangerous the virus can be and didn’t want to distress his family by attending.

Those within the company believe Owens will be back for the 29th June episode of Raw as long a there are no new positive tests within WWE. This is great news for WWE creative who have already had to deal with the loss of Owens after he missed the whole of April with an injury sustained at WrestleMania 36.

Following last night’s episode of Dynamite, which was taped last Thursday, AEW announced the signing of both Ricky Starks and Abadon. Both appeared on the show with Starks answering Cody’s TNT title challenge in a losing effort, while Abadon won a squash over Anna Jay.

Starks has been wrestling on the independents for eight years, including working squash matches for WWE over that time. His big break would come in Billy Corgan’s NWA, where he was NWA Television Champion after beating Trevor Murdoch in a tournament final at their Hard Times PPV. He’d go on to lose the title to Zicky Dice on NWA Powerrr. The match against Cody was actually his AEW tryout, and he really impressed the decision-makers and earned a contract.

Abadon, not to be confused with the luchador of the same name, previously wrestled in an enhancement role on AEW Dark, where she stood out with her memorable gimmick that had social media buzzing at the time. She’s been wrestling for around a year, mainly in Colorado, and with her horror movie look alone, she’ll surely become a cult favorite.

Jim Cornette and Sami Zayn worked together in Ring of Honor and had an acrimonious relationship. Over the years, Cornette has been very negative amount Zayn, saying he was challenging to work with because he wouldn’t listen and was concerned about insignificant matters.

Now on the latest episode of his Drive-Thru podcast, Cornette couldn’t resist making some more scathing remarks about the former El Generico when his name came up.

You can’t fucking get this guy to stop arguing about the goddamn, you know, fucking what you’re gonna have for lunch to determine whether or not the whole group is gonna starve or not. He’s on minute little details that he won’t fucking let go. He’s a pain in the ass, and as an agent, my God, he’s an agent’s worst nightmare because I’ve tried to agent him.

He’s a great heel promo because he’s a fucking personable but annoying fucker in person. He comes off the indie scene where he had to die on every kill and didn’t understand why he and Kevin Owens weren’t getting all my praises.Jim Cornette

We now await the next wrestler to be on the receiving end of Jim Cornette’s seemingly never-ending vitriol.

WWE has canceled their television taping scheduled for today following a developmental talent testing positive for COVID-19. While the person is unnamed, it is said to be a trainee and not an NXT television talent. Unlike AEW, who have been carrying out COVID-19 testing, WWE has not tested previously, preferring to carry out basic checks such as taking temperatures, which is now looking like a poor decision.

All talent, production crew, and employees who were at the last Tuesday’s NXT tapings with that person will be tested today. Then, if all test results come back negative WWE will have a massive set of tapings on Wednesday, recording next week’s episodes of Raw, SmackDown, NXT, and 205 Live.

WWE had begun letting a small group of fans into the Performance Center who had signed waivers saying they couldn’t sue if they contracted COVID-19. They were also told they couldn’t wear masks, but given the positive test, this could be reviewed.

During an interview with WrestlingINC Stu Bennett, known better to WWE fans as Wade Barrett revealed WWE reached out to him about a Nexus reunion at WrestleMania before COVID-19 caused plans to change.

I was called in January or February by the Talent Relations team in WWE about something they wanted to do during WrestleMania to coincide with the 10th anniversary of Nexus. I actually turned it down as I didn’t like the offer or the plan. I saw Darren just after that, and he said he was gonna go and do something with them. But I wasn’t going to be involved in whatever it was.

In all honestly, if it had been something more significant, I would have paid it more attention. But it was something, to me, that I wasn’t interested in doing. There was no benefit at all, for me, in doing it, and I wasn’t excited about it, so I turned the offer down.Wade Barrett

It isn’t known what the return would have entailed, but it’s possible it was just an Axxess appearance, which is WWE’s yearly four-day fan convention coinciding with WrestleMania. It does sound though if WWE had wanted to make it a television angle, he would have been involved.

Wade Barret hasn’t wrestled since 2016, preferring to commentate and perform as an authority figure for various promotions. He was burnt out from his time on the road and discouraged that WWE wasn’t interested in his ideas. He dd look set to return to the ring and wrestle in Lucha Underground as “The Lord” in 2018, but the promotion went on hiatus and now seems dead.
