It was only yesterday that Kay made her own Twitter announcement where she revealed her deal with Billy Corgan’s NWA had expired, and she was officially a free agent. It isn’t believed that Kay has signed a contract with Tony Khan’s company, but AEW will often bring talent in to evaluate them before making them an offer, so this may be Kay’s tryout match.
If Kay were to sign with AEW, she would bring 12 years of experience with her, with her most high profile run being in TNA as Sienna. She would twice be a TNA/Impact Knockouts Champion and one-time GFW Women’s Champion during that run. She has also made two appearances for WWE in 2018, firstly as part of the second Mae Young Classic tournament, and then in a six-women tag match. When Cody left WWE, he lost the famous surname that his father first used in 1968. WWE would let it expire in April, and Cody immediately filed the trademark application. However, WWE would file a late renewal on May 15th for the trademark, citing that worldwide events had delayed them. Many fans frowned on WWE holding on to a name they had no plans to use, but technically they were within their legal rights to do this as they did create the Cody Rhodes character.
Today though, there was a big twist in the story as WWE has canceled their trademark on “Cody Rhodes.” This news comes not long after Cody abandoned his trademark applications on “The Match Beyond” and “Slamboree,” freeing them up for WWE to reclaim. While the two things could be unrelated, and this is just speculation, it is possible a deal may have been agreed between Cody and WWE.
With WWE no longer staking claim to the name “Cody Rhodes,” the son of the late great Dusty Rhodes can update his trademark application, which was initially rejected, and take ownership.
It’s well known that Jim Cornette isn’t a fan of modern wrestling and regularly condemns WWE and AEW for their products. It could easily be believed the former Smoky Mountain Wrestling owner hasn’t enjoyed a match post-1995; however, he recently watched the NXT UK Championship match between champion WALTER and Ilja Dragunov and would take to Twitter to praise the 25-minute war.
If you haven’t yet seen the match, you need to go out of your way to watch it on the WWE Network. It features a level of aggression and violence you would never expect to see in WWE. Dave Meltzer gave it his highly coveted five-star rating in the latest edition of his Wrestling Observer Newsletter, although he did state he was hesitant to do so due to the brutality.
It is unfortunate for WALTER and Dragunov that being on WWE’s NXT UK brand means the match won’t get much attention, although that is a big part of why they could have the match they did. This was when the pairs sixth singles match against each other, with their first taking place in Germany’s Westside Xtreme Wrestling back in 2016. All their battles have been highly rated, but to gain praise from both Jim Cornette and Dave Meltzer, who in 2020 have polar opposite opinions on what is good wrestling, is noteworthy.
Based on a post made by Dave Meltzer on his messageboard, rumors spread that Thunder Rosa would soon be headed to WWE. Meltzer’s rationale was that because Rosa had dropped her NWA World Women’s Championship to Serena Deeb seemingly out of nowhere, it meant she would be leaving the promotion. However, NWA owner Billy Corgan would deny this and revealed Rosa was signed with the NWA until 2022.
Now speaking to Busted Open, Thunder Rosa has stated that WWE might not be for anyway due to wanting to continue working on her own projects, which bring her a lot of joy in life.
Because of all the projects I have on the side, it has to be a place where I’m able to continue working on what I’m working on. If I’m able to do it with NWA, then NWA. If I’m able to do it with AEW, probably. Now knowing what WWE is doing with things we have on the side, it’s going to be very difficult for me to work on my personal projects. Sometimes, those personal projects are the things that bring you the most joy in life. I don’t want that joy to be taken away from money. If that’s what I have to sacrifice, I’d rather be happy than be a slave.
Thunder Rosa
WWE has a reputation for being a very controlling company with Vince McMahon’s autocratic leadership and recently declared wrestlers couldn’t work with third parties without WWE’s involvement. Based on Rosa’s comments, that would be a big problem for her as signing with WWE would effectively end her MMA career. Given that, AEW would likely be the better destination for her since they support Jake Hager competing in Bellator.
The company who runs the virtual fan aspect of WWE’s ThunderDome recently created a video showing the behind the scenes process of selecting fans but showed too much. In a now edited video, they would inadvertently reveal WWE’s banned list, and among those identified in the photos were The Young Bucks.
The story picked up momentum once Nick and Matt Jackson became aware and took to Twitter sharing the photos used on the moderator’s printouts. Now the brothers who are never ones to miss a merchandising opportunity have gone one step further and poked fun at their inclusion by releasing a new t-shirt via ProWrestlingTees.com.
The shirt will almost certainly be a huge seller, as most Bucks merchandise sells great, and given it’s mocking WWE, it will appeal to a lot of diehard AEW fans who have an aversion to Vince McMahon’s version of pro wrestling.
Fans have been concerned about the wellbeing of Impact Wrestling’s Kylie Rae after she no-showed Bound For Glory on the 24th of October. She did drive to Nashville the day before the pay-per-view and contacted the promotion to check when she was required to attend on Saturday. However, she didn’t turn up on the day of the show, and Impact Wrestling had to change her match. In addition, it’s understood she didn’t attend the next set of television tapings that took place on the 25th and 26th of October.
Up until today, she has remained silent but has now posted to her Patreon subscribers that she is unwell and is no longer considers herself a professional wrestler, as you can read below.
I’m truly sorry for the pain I’ve caused and miscommunication, I am currently unwell.
I’m also sorry that I wasn’t able to get this out before your monthly subscription charge.
I wanted to take this time to say I am no longer a professional wrestler and am currently taking a break from social media. It’s been a very hard decision to make but please understand. When I am well, I will try to fulfill any obligations that have missed.
During this time, most tiers will not be able to be fulfilled, please feel free to unsubscribe from this membership/PatreonAccount.
Thank you for your understanding.Kylie Rae
Kylie Rae had become known to the wrestling masses when she signed with AEW in 2019 and debuted at Double or Nothing. She was expected to compete at Fyter Fest but was replaced by Allie. Afterward, Tony Khan revealed she had requested her release, which had been granted. A few months later, she would resume her career on the independents and signed with Impact Wrestling in 2019.
Hopefully, Kylie Rae gets better soon and can perhaps return to wrestling one day if she still wants to. She is an incredibly talented performer and made any women’s division that she was part of better.
This weekend was the Insane Clown Posse’s annual Hallowicked concert, and this year the rappers hosted a virtual concert from Violent J’s very own living room. With it being Halloween and the duo being huge wrestling fans, they opted to pay tribute to the Road Warriors with Shaggy 2 Dope dressing as Hawk and Violent J as Animal. You can see a screenshot of the duo performing below.

ICP began backyard wrestling before forming their horrorcore band, and at the height of their popularity and fame, wrestled in WWE, WCW, ECW, and TNA. In 1999 they started their own promotion Juggalo Championship Wrestling and continue to run shows 20 years later. Their last show was actually only a few weeks ago and took place in Violent J’s backyard with Rhino headlining.
If you’re down with the clown, you can watch the virtual concert at crowdcast.io but will need to be a member of ICP’s Patreon.
When the ThunderDome first debuted in August, WWE encountered issues with inappropriate images and video making air. It started innocently with Pikachu appearing but quickly escalated to include a sign saying “Fire Velveteen Deam,” a photo of Chris Benoit, someone wearing a Klan robe, and then most disturbingly, a video of an apparent execution. These incidents have calmed down, and part of the reason is WWE now sometimes recycle virtual fan videos.
However, it appears in an attempt to stop wrestlers and logos they consider unwelcome from making air, they have photos available for moderators. This was revealed thanks to the company behind the process accidentally including the photos in a behind the scenes video. They have since edited them out of the video in a new version, but not before the internet saved it. You can watch the original video below.

While it is tough to identify all the photos, eagle-eyed fans on social media suggest that in addition to the logos of AEW, Impact, and New Japan, the faces of The Young Bucks, Cody Rhodes, Marty Scurll, Enzo Amore, Ashley Massaro, Chris Benoit, CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio, and Ryback can be made out. After the video began to circulate online, The Young Bucks became aware of their inclusion and posted the below tweet, verifying WWE’s photos.
While it is not surprising that WWE has done this, especially after Kenny Omega appeared on SmackDown, it is embarrassing it got out.
Last Saturday, Heath Miller, who wrestled as Heath Slater in WWE, was injured during an intergender gauntlet match on Impact Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view. He was booked to win the match, but clearly in pain, Impact Wrestling called an audible. Sami Callihan would eliminate Heath, and instead, Rhino won the match. Following the show, Heath would go to the hospital and stayed overnight.
A week on, and Heath has shared an update with fans revealing he was initiated diagnosed with a hernia but actually has a partially torn abductor muscle and tear in his groin. He’d thankfully add surgery is not required.
OFFICIAL DIAGNOSIS: partially torn abductor muscle (from the bone) and a slight tear in my groin.
RECOVERY: luckily no surgery, just gotta suck it up and deal with the pain for a while. Lots of rest, ice, physical therapy (I’m coming for you @nmotion_pr #recovery #badluck #rebuild #hurting #outfornow #butnotforeverHeath Miller
Heath was able to make the Impact tapings following his hospital stay, and his injury was not acknowledged on this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling on AXS. The next set of tapings are scheduled for November 17-19, so hopefully, Heath is physically able to compete then.
Since March 2019, Cody Rhodes has been on a mission to take ownership of several former World Championship Wrestling trademarks his father created for the promotion. WWE had taken ownership of them when they purchased WCW in 2001 but had allowed some to expire. Cody, believing this opened the door for him to take control of them, made a number of trademark applications, which included requests for “Slamboree” and “The Match Beyond.”
Once WWE found out about these filings, they filed an opposition, and Cody had until 31st October to state why he should be given the trademarks for “Slamboree” and “The Match Beyond” over WWE. It has now been reported that Cody has officially withdrawn his trademark filings for both of these through his trademark attorney Michael E. Dockins.
Cody has made no statement on this, but as WWE does air past Slamboree pay-per-views on the WWE Network, and The Match Beyond is a reference to WarGames, he possibly didn’t believe he would win. Cody still has other trademarks being processed, including “SuperBrawl,” but that was initially refused, and he has until April 2021 to reply.
With former WCW names being used for NXT events, it will be interesting whether some of the names Cody attempted to trademark end up being used by WWE.
PAC was one of All Elite Wrestling’s first signings, and his matches with Adam Page, Kenny Omega, and Jon Moxley were some of the highlights of Dynamite’s first six months on TNT. Sadly, just as he had formed a group with Penta El Zero M and Rey Fenix called The Death Triangle, travel restrictions meant he couldn’t travel from the UK to the US. This left his AEW career in limbo.
Thankfully, after almost eight months on the sidelines, AEW has now announced that PAC will return on next week’s episode of Dynamite, which is also the go-home show for Full Gear. It seems unlikely that PAC will wrestle on to the pay-per-view, although his return could lead to an angle with Eddie Kingston in the future, who is now aligned with Penta and Fenix.
WWE is taking control of wrestlers Twitch accounts and plans to split the income, which was previously directly going entirely to talent. As reported yesterday, multiple talents including AJ Styles, Xavier Woods, Zelina Vega, Aleister Black, Mia Yim, and Cesaro have all decided to stop streaming over this.
However, Paige, who has built up a large following and makes significant income, hasn’t hung up her controller yet. During her stream on Thursday, she was very emotional and would say that she cannot deal with WWE anymore, and mentioned that she broke her neck twice for them and now has a very important decision to make as Twitch filled a void in life. You can watch the heartfelt clip below.

Paige is believed to have four years on her WWE contract remaining as WWE was keen to keep her away from AEW. She may, though, have to ask for her release if she wants to continue with her channel to keep full control and revenue.
