Former Democratic presidential candidate Andre Yang is believed to be high on President-elect Joe Biden’s list of potential cabinet appointees, which could mean big trouble for WWE. He is against WWE’s policy of classifying talent as independent contractors and could soon be in a position to get the classification reviewed. By categorizing wrestlers as independent contractors, WWE saves tens of millions of dollars a year and means wrestlers go without pension plans, insurance, and vacation pay.
Following the release of Zelina Vega on Friday, due to her views on unionization and opening an Only Fans, Andrew Yang would quote tweet a fan saying he hasn’t forgotten about Vince McMahon. By doing this, he is indicating that he plans to follow through on challenging WWE’s business practices and putting is McMahon on notice.
Yang has been speaking to numerous wrestlers off the record, and it’s rumored that Vega was among them. He would also appear recently as a guest on Talk Is Jericho. During this appearance, he discussed wrestlers not receiving royalties for the WWE Network and the amount of control WWE has over someone who is meant to be an independent employee.
Chelsea Green made her SmackDown debut on Friday, in what was her first match in six months. She was a surprise entrant in a fatal 4-Way Survivor Series Qualifying Match and booked to win.
Early into the match, she was dropkicked off the ring apron by Liv Morgan and, unfortunately, upon landing on the ringside mats, would break her left wrist. She played no further part in the match and was only briefly mentioned again on commentary. With her set to win, an audible was called, and Morgan would instead get the victory.
Following her inauspicious debut, she would be taken to hospital, and her fiancé Matt Cardona would post a tweet confirming surgery is required. This is the second time a broken wrist has derailed Green’s career. The first occasion occurred during an NXT dark match in 2019 against Jessie Elaban and forced her to miss three and a half months of action.
Zelina Vega, who has been under WWE contract since 2017, was released earlier today. WWE would announce this on WWE.com and wish her the best in her future endeavors. The exact reason isn’t yet apparent, but Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter stated on Twitter that it is because of her belief wrestlers should form a union after WWE took over their Twitch and Cameo accounts. Not long after being made aware she had been let go, but before the news was made public, she took to Twitter to confirm her support of unionization, as you can see below.
In addition to the union issue, it also believed that Vega opening an Only Fans account to share cosplay pictures with fans after WWE implemented their third-party ban upset the company. On her page, she would charge fans $1000 for ten photos under the pseudonym “Megan Minx.” As of writing, her husband Aleister Black is still with WWE.
At last year’s Fyter Fest, Cody Rhodes took a hellacious chair shot to the head from Shawn Spears, which left him requiring ten stitches, and AEW was heavily criticized at the time, Many fans felt chair shots should be left in the past, and the risk of CTW was too great. Now speaking to the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Cody would reveal why having a chair shot in the first place was he wanted to bring back “chair shots to the head back for the boys” but safely. He would liken it to Captain America, hitting people on the head with his Shield in a movie. You can listen to his full rationale below.

While the chair was gimmicked by sanding it down, so it was more like a cookie sheet; Spears swung from the side and hit Cody with a back bar, causing the damage. Spears would get reprimanded by Tony Khan and Jon Moxley backstage, but Cody took the blame and told Spears how to swing the chair.
Thankfully Cody didn’t suffer a concussion and hasn’t taken an unprotected chair shot to the head since.
In very sad news, Melissa Coates, who is currently best known for her role as ECW legend Sabu’s valet under the name Super Genie has had to have her left leg amputated. She was suffering several artery blockages, and doctors had no other choice but to perform the life-saving surgery. This has left her with substantial medical bills and unable to work, so a GoFundMe has been set up so friends and fans can help her.
Coates is a former bodybuilder who began competing competitively in 1995 and was ranked in the top 10 of the world. She also received worldwide publicity by appearing on the front covers of several magazines, including Muscle&Fitness, and Ironman. This lead her to the world of professional wrestling, where she initially trained under Killer Kowalski before becoming part of WWE’s developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling between 2005 and 2007. Since then, she wrestled on the independent circuit until she began managing Sabu under the Super Genie moniker in 2014. Her last high profile appearances were for Impact Wrestling, where she accompanied Sabu throughout his 2019 and 2020 run.
As of writing, $1,840 of her $50,000 target has been raised, and if you are in a position to add to that amount, you can at this link.
Kenny Omega won AEW World’s Title Eliminator Tournament at Full Gear this past Saturday, making him the #1 contender and setting up a massive match against Jon Moxley for his AEW World Championship. It was expected the pair would face off at AEW’s next pay-per-view, Revolution, on February 27, 2021. However, AEW announced during last night’s episode of Dynamite the match would, in fact, take place on the December 2 edition of Dynamite.
This will be the second time the two men have competed against each other in singles competition. However, technically their Lights Out match at Full Gear 2019 was unsanctioned, so AEW does not officially recognize it. When they fought back on November 9, 2019, there match received very mixed reactions due to the level of violence, which involved the use of glass, barbed wire, and chains. The use of intentional blood even resulted in AEW being fined $10,000 by the Maryland Athletic State Commission. Jim Cornette would call it “ECW with a budget,” which coming from him is not a compliment. In contrast, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter called it “a tremendous match and an incredible spectacle.”
With Moxley having won the first contest, it is presumed that Omega will level the score and become the next AEW World Champion. This would then correspond with Nick Jackson telling ScreenCrush in an interview that “year two’s going to be all about Kenny Omega.“
Impact Wrestling’s last set of television tapings was the final one for The Rascalz due to their contracts expiring. The group that consists of Trey Miguel, Dezmond Xavier, and Zachary Wentz were evicted from their treehouse for not paying rent on the episode that aired last night, and their final match for the promotion will air next week.
With the trio now being free agents, it has been confirmed WWE has offered them deals, and their signings are considered a formality. It isn’t known if AEW reached out to any of the men, but AEW does already have a stacked tag division.
Dez and Wentz were the group’s founding members, wrestling together on the indies back in 2015, with Trey joining the group in 2018. All three would soon become a prominent part of Impact Wrestling and had vignettes set in their treehouse with them surrounded by smoke. This would imply they were high, and RVD would even join them, resulting in The Rascalz marking out.
During their two year run in Impact, Dez and Wentz mostly performed as a tag team, with Trey joining them for six-man matches. Impact seemingly saw Trey as having the most upside of the three, as he received a single’s push, resulting in him being involved in the main event of Slammiversary. He would compete for the vacant Impact World Championship against Ace Austin, Rich Swann, Eric Young, and Eddie Edwards, who won the match.
Tyson Kidd’s career ended in 2015 in a dark match against Samoa Joe. Joe’s finishing maneuver, the “Muscle Buster,” damaged Kidd’s spinal cord, resulting in him requiring 16 staples, four screws, and a rod inserted in his neck. Only 5% of people who suffer this injury recover, and the majority of those end up with paraplegia or quadriplegia. However, back in August, the below video began to circulate, which showed Kidd wrestling back in the ring, resulting in speculation he could be looking to make a comeback.

Now speaking on The New Day: Feel the Power podcast Kidd has ruled out that possibility of an in-ring return, at least within WWE. The reason being Vince McMahon shot down his request to be a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble match.
Yes, it would be cool if I could write the final page of my in-ring career, that chapter. But, I can’t, I don’t think’ so I’ve kind of when Vince told me no.Tyson Kidd
It certainly would have been a cool moment to see Tyson Kidd get to go out on his own terms, especially considering how his twenty-year in-ring career ended. Although it is easy to understand why Vince McMahon wouldn’t want to risk another tragedy in his ring.
In March 2019, the Bella Twins announced on their E! reality show Total Bellas that they had retired from wrestling. Brie would share the news on the March 10 episode, while Nikki announced on the March 24 season finale. This meant their careers had ended without much fanfare following matches in 2018, twelve years after they’d initially trying out for WWE Diva Search. However, speaking to US Weekly, Nikki’s fiancé, Artem Chigvintsev, has revealed that both twins are in talks with WWE to wrestle again. Chigvintsev would add he believes they still have an unclosed chapter in their lives.
I’d love to be cheering in the front row sitting with Matteo on my lap … like, “Go, Mommy, go!”Artem Chigvintsev
In January 2020, the Bella Twins announced they were pregnant concurrently and had due dates two weeks apart, but the births were actually only separated by 22 hours. Nikki gave birth to her first child Matteo on July 31, 2020, and Brie gave birth to her and husband Daniel Bryan’s second child Buddy on Aust 1, 2020.
The pair are next expected to appear for WWE at their Hall of Fame inductions during the lead-up to WrestleMania 37, and Chigvintsev’s divulgence means they may also be available to compete on the show.
Fans have been clamoring for news on the upcoming AEW video game, and today it was announced the company has partnered with Yuke’s Co. Ltd. is a Japanese video game developer based in Osaka. Yukes had worked on WWE games since 2000’s WWF SmackDown! up until 2018’s WWE 2K19 but had the franchise taken from them when 2K moved it to Visual Concepts Entertainment who they owned and developed the NBA 2K franchise. This news is considered monumental in the video game industry, and fans are relieved to find out that the AEW is in good hands with a company with vast experience.
While no release date was confirmed, it was revealed that the game would be available on both current and next-gen consoles. You can watch the first official trailer below.

Additionally, AEW will also be releasing two mobile games, the first being “AEW Elite General Manager,” which allows fans to run AEW by booking matches. The second is “AEW Casino: Double or Nothing,” which will be available later this year.
The two eldest sons of WWE and Impact Wrestling Hall of Famer D-Von Dudley are set to make their AEW debuts on tonight’s edition of AEW Dark on YouTube. The twins Terrence Hughes and Terrell Hughes, collectively known as TNT, will face Serpentico and Luther in a taped match following last Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite.
After AEW made the match announcement, D-Von, who is currently employed by WWE as a producer, took to Twitter to share his son’s upcoming appearance for WWE’s rivals.
The brothers made their first wrestling appearances in 2011 as part of their father’s feud with Bully Ray in TNA. They would make multiple appearances on Impact and interfered in the Street Fight at the Against All Odds pay-per-view between the feuding Dudley Boyz. They then began to wrestle on independent shows prominently in Florida from 2015, where they’d use the 3D as their finisher.
