Keith Lee was scheduled to work a Triple Threat match with then United States Champion Bobby Lashley and Riddle at WWE’s February Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. The match was booked to get the title off Lashley and onto Riddle without beating Lashley, so Lee would have lost the match. However, he ended up getting replaced by John Morrison, who was pinned by Riddle. Since then, Lee has been noticeable by his absence, but earlier today posted a somewhat cryptic tweet saying he hears the fans and will one day explain.
There have been rumors that Lee has been suffering from health issues and been unable to get cleared to return. Although that hasn’t been confirmed by anyone reputable. It should also be noted that when Lee signed for WWE in 2018, it was for three years, so unless he signed an extension when called up to Raw, he’d be a free agent in May.
Lee’s main roster call-up hasn’t gone to plan despite initially receiving a big push which saw Vince McMahon tell Randy Orton to make him a star. The belief is McMahon hasn’t been happy with his ring work, and Lee was instructed to participate in twice-weekly training sessions with Drew Gulak and Adam Pearce to change his ring style.
Sean Waltman’s wrestling career in the big leagues came to a halt after contracting hepatitis C. He couldn’t get cleared to complete in some states due to it being transmitted via blood. This limited Waltman to wrestling on indie shows and making occasional non-wrestling appearances for WWE. However, his hepatitis C is now cured due to using expensive direct-acting antiviral tablets, and he recently had surgery to get his injured knee repaired. Now, in an interview with SI.com, he has spoken about wanting to wrestle for WWE again but is open to wrestle elsewhere.
I didn’t leave this business on my terms, I wasted a lot of years of my life wandering around in the darkness, but I’m grateful that I still have some time left. And the style has changed, which is good. The bumps are more meaningful than in my era, which is a difference, but they bump less. That extends your shelf life.
I watch the product now and I think, if I had both knees under me, I could keep up with a lot of these guys. If people want me, I’ll do it, but I am also mindful of being an older guy taking up too much oxygen. That’s not what I want. If there is some room for me to have a few matches, that’s all I want.Sean Waltman
While Waltman has been troubled by personal demons throughout his career, he appears to be in a much better place now. He is also set to be inducted for a second time in the WWE Hall of Fame next month. Considering his relationship with WWE and who runs NXT, it isn’t beyond the realm of possibility he could compete on a future TakeOver. Considering how great a performer he was during his prime and the fact he broke down barriers for smaller wrestlers, it would be great if his in-ring career could end on his terms.
Eric Bischoff is a polarizing character within pro wrestling. Some people see him as partially responsible for the fall of WCW. In contrast, others consider him a visionary that reinvigorated the industry in the 90s. Regardless it is impossible to deny he has had a significant impact, and today WWE announced him as the second inductee into the Class of 2021 WWE Hall of Fame. He joins Molly Holly, who was announced last week. The ceremony for this year’s inductees and the delayed Class of 2020 will air on Peacock in the US and on the WWE Network throughout the rest of the world on April 6, 2021.
Bischoff was fired by WWE in October 2019 from his role of Executive Director of the Friday Night Smackdown, having been the scapegoat for Smackdown losing 25% of its audience between weeks 1 and 2 of its move to FOX. Bischoff had only held the position since June 2019 and had recently relocated to Connecticut to be closer to WWE’s headquarters. When he initially took the role, Bischoff declared it a bigger opportunity than when he was president of WCW on his podcast. Since then, he has made a couple of appearances for WWE’s rival AEW, including recently appearing on the March 3, 2021, episode of Dynamite as part of an Inner Circle press conference.
Last week news broke that Andrade had officially requested his WWE release. Later on, it was confirmed that his request had been denied, which is WWE’s right, and likely due to concern, he would go to AEW, potentially alongside Zelina Vega. Now the former NXT Champion has publicly acknowledged his release request on Twitter, thanking fans for their support and saying he wants to make his dreams come true.
Andrade was a Paul Heyman project in WWE, and once Heyman lost his creative role with the company, his standing fell due to Vince McMahon not seeing much in him. If Andrade does eventually join AEW, he would be able to compete as Andrade as it’s his real name. Alternatively, he has the trademarks for “El Idolo” and “La Sombra,” his ring name, before joining WWE.
While several unhappy talents have requested their WWE releases over the years, Andrade’s situation is particularly fascinating because he is engaged to Charlotte Flair. Given her status, you’d think WWE would be doing everything possible to keep her happy and Andrade by association, even if that means granting him his release.
Fans became concerned about Kylie Rae’s wellbeing after she no-showed Impact Wrestling’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view on October 24, 2020. She drove to Nashville the day before the pay-per-view and contacted the promotion to check when she was required to attend on Saturday. However, she didn’t turn up on the day of the show, and Impact Wrestling had to change her match. Additionally, it’s understood she didn’t attend the next set of television tapings that took place on the 25th and 26th of October. Shortly afterward, she announced that she is unwell and is no longer considered herself a professional wrestler.
Now though, Warriors Wrestling has announced on Twitter she will be wrestling for them on June 5, 2021. She is currently their champion, having won the Warrior Wrestling Women’s Championship from Tessa Blanchard on September 12, 2020, and made one title defense later that month, defeating Madison Rayne. It is a risk advertising a wrestler who no-showed their last announced appearance. Still, hopefully, Rae is mentally ready to return, and perhaps it is to drop the title to Thunder Rosa, who is expected to be her opponent.
Kylie Rae had become known to the wrestling masses when she signed with AEW in 2019 and debuted at Double or Nothing. She was expected to compete at Fyter Fest but was replaced by Allie. Afterward, Tony Khan revealed she had requested her release, which had been granted. A few months later, she would resume her career on the indies and signed with Impact Wrestling in 2019.
Like many wrestlers before him, Kevin Fertig was discovered working out in a gym. In his case, Sid Vicious got him to take up wrestling, and he’d wrestle for Memphis Championship Wrestling in 2000. By 2002 he had signed a development deal with WWE and was in OVW. When he debuted on SmackDown two years later, he would be known as Mordecai, a character on a crusade to rid the world of sin. He was expected to become a main event talent and feud with The Undertaker, leading to WrestleMania’s match.
Sadly for Fertig, these plans were scrapped following a bar fight which led to a lawsuit. He was released in 2005 but returned in 2006 as part of WWE’s ECW brand as a vampire character called Kevin Thorn that Heyman had wanted to use since the original days of ECW. While this run was longer, it was uneventful, and by 2008 he was back in developmental and eventually asked to be released.
It’s now been reported by HeelByNature that Fertig, who still wrestlers sporadically on the independents, has officially filed trademark applications for both his firmer WWE names. Fertig is 44, so he still has several years wrestling ahead of him if he chooses, although possibly not at the highest level. However, he has built a life for himself outside of wrestling as he is a successful realtor working and residing in Indiana. At this time, it is not known if WWE plans to challenge these applications, as they chose to abandon the trademarks over a decade ago. While they likely have no plans to use the names again, they might not want the names officially used in another promotion.
Charly Caruso started out in NXT during 2016 and would go to become a backstage interviewer on the min roster and host Raw Talk and for PPV pre-shows. However, her time with WWE may soon be coming to an end due to her having heat backstage. According to Fightful Select, she was late to film interviews with Randy Orton and Sheamus, and once news got back to Vince McMahon, he took her off television. At present, her on-air duties are being picked up by new WWE signing Kevin Patrick, and the belief is she doesn’t have much time left on her contract.
Caruso has options away from WWE as before joining the company, she worked as a sports anchor and reporter for multiple FOX affiliates and a journalist for an NBC affiliate. Since 2018 she has also worked for ESPN, and this past January, she began co-hosting a new ESPN podcast titled First Take, Her Take. She is also friends with AEW’s Tony Khan, having met him before either was involved professionally in the wrestling business.
Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny has been a regular feature for WWE lately, and this past Monday’s Raw was an eventful episode for him. He’d trade the WWE 24/7 Title Championship to R-Truth for some Steve Austin merchandise and later got physical following a short match between Damian Priest and Jaxson Ryker, who was accompanied by Elias. Elias went to hit Priest with his guitar, but Bunny made the save and then escaped a slam attempt to punch Elias. This led to Miz sneaking into the ring and hitting Bunny with the guitar.
It has now been exposed by Twitter user @NYCDemonDiva that while Bunny was selling the guitar shot and being checked on by Priest, he actually used an offensive Puerto Rican curse word to describe The Miz. The term was “mamabicho,” which means “d*ck sucker” in English. You can see a clip for yourself below.

While WWE will unlikely be happy with Bunny using this type of language on Raw, it unlikely he’ll suffer any repercussions. He has brought the company a lot of mainstream publicity, even appearing with the 24/7 Championship during multiple appearances. He is also featured prominently on WWE’s promotional material for WrestleMania, where he is expected to team with Priest to take on The Miz and John Morrison.
During the 22nd February episode of Raw, Asuka and Charlotte Flair wrestled Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler in a hard-hitting tag match. Near the end of the contest, Asuka received a stiff boot to the face from Baszler, which Asuka appeared to sell it incredibly well. Although, after the match, it was reported she suffered a concussion and lost at least one tooth. It was feared Asuka might not be able to defend the Raw Women’s Championship at WrestleMania due to the concussion. Thankfully though, she returned on this week’s episode of Raw and immediately got revenge on Baszler by defeating her in singles action.
Now Asuka has shared an update on the Japanese social networking platform NowVoice revealing that she currently has temporary teeth in place, and it’ll be six months before she can have implants. Thankfully though, this means Asuka will be able to compete on WWE’s flagship show in April. At present, there is no confirmation on who she will be defending the title against, although Charlotte Flair is heavily rumored. However, she was absent from Raw last night and is set to star in the upcoming remake of Walking Tall, which could see her miss considerable time filming.
John Huber, known better to wrestling fans as Brodie Lee and Luke Harper, tragically passed away last December at 41. AEW would out on a moving tribute show, which saw each match feature at least one member of The Dark Order, and Huber’s longtime tag partner Erick Rowan made an appearance. Huber’s eight-year-old son Brodie Lee Jr. was also awarded the TNT Championship belt his father previously held in an emotional segment.
Since that night, Lee Jr. has made frequent appearances for AEW as part of The Dark order under the name -1. Most fans see this as AEW helping support Huber’s family and letting his son live out his dream. However, some fans have been critical, even going as far as to say the promotion is exploiting him. Now in an Instagram story, Huber’s widow has addressed these claims.
I try to ignore the sh*t online, but know I see it. I see the snide comments about Brodie’s involvement. The use of the word exploitation. It’s disheartening.
Our world crumbled.
AEW has helped us pick up the pieces.
It’s easy to be distrustful of any corporation and I’d be lying if I didn’t constantly think the rug was going to get pulled out from under me. It hasn’t. Even when it felt like everything was pulled out from under me, this wasn’t.
They let Brodie feel like he’s a part of something. Notice there’s no storylines involving him. Just him being connected to a huge part of him that’s missing.
What everyone doesn’t see on the other side of social media is a kid who is carrying so much grief yet so much joy. A kid who is excelling in his therapy. A kid who despite the worst few months of his life got 10-A’s and 3-B’s on his report card last week. On days we go to AEW you are all missing him doing his school work from a hotel room because going to AEW is a privilege. Or sitting with Aunty Megha working in math problems.
They also make me feel like I’m a part of something. We make the drive every other show so I can spend time with people who remind me of the best parts of being alive. People like @meghalegalgirl10 & @margaret.stalvey who sit in the crowd next to me and let me vent & cry & laugh & breathe in a world that wants me to be weighed down with grief.
My Instagram isn’t grief p**n. It’s never going to be a place where I want people to come and feel sorry for me. It’s photos of my journey. So come join me. Just know I didn’t die the day my husband did, I’m very much alive and full of fight. I’m not made of glass. I’m a diamond and like a wise friend shared with me, ‘hard times put the shine in the diamond’.Amanda Huber
It’s been revealed that Lee Jr. has an official contract with AEW waiting for him once he turns 18. So if he chooses, he can follow his father’s footsteps and perhaps even one-day deliver a discus lariat in memory to his father. While nothing will ever make up for losing a father or husband, it is tremendous that AEW is doing all they can for the Huber family, not only now but long-term.
