Michael Cole was absent from this past Monday night’s Raw, which, considering he has only twice before missed a show, came as a big surprise to viewers. However, it turns out there was nothing wrong with the long-standing WWE commentator, as according to Fightful.com’s Sean Ross Sapp, Cole had simply requested time off due to an unspecified previous obligation.
“Michael Cole had requested time off for a previous obligation a while back, WWE sources tell us.”
Sean Ross Sapp56-year-old Cole, real name Sean Michael Coulthard, began his WWE career as a backstage interviewer in 1997 and, over the next 25 years, worked his way up in the company to become the Vice President of Announcing. And while to some, he isn’t in the same class as iconic names like Jim Ross and Gordon Solie, to a generation of wrestling fans, he is the voice of WWE.
