Marilyn Manson’s Ex-Wife Dita Von Teese Issues Statement

Heather Renée Sweet, who has made a career for herself under the name Dita Von Teese first met Marilyn Manson when he asked her to perform in one of his music videos. While the collaboration didn’t occur, they kept in contact and became a couple in 2001. They’d marry in 2005, but Von Teese filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences” the following year.

Now, after multiple women have accused Manson’s abuse, his ex-wife has issued what she says will be her only statement. She’d admit that their marriage was ruined by infidelity and drug abuse. However, she did not have the same experience with the rock star as other women alleged. She did, though, note that those abused should take steps to heal.

I have been processing the news that broke Monday regarding Marilyn Manson. To those who have expressed your concerns of my well-being, I appreciate your kindness. Please know that the details made public do not match my personal experience during our 7 years together as a couple. Had they, I would not have married him in December 2005. I left 112 months later due to infidelity and drug abuse.”

Abuse of any kind has no place in any relationship. I urge those of you who have incurred abuse to take steps to heal and the strength to fully realize yourself. This is my sole statement in this matter. Thank you for respecting this request.Dita Von Teese

Manson’s life and career appear to be in freefall following the initial allegations made by his former fiancée Evan Rachel Wood. His record label has dropped him, upcoming appearances on American Gods are being edited out, and the episode featuring him on the forthcoming series of Creepshow has been pulled. Also, California state senator Susan Rubio has requested an FBI investigation into his conduct.

Manson has issued his own statement saying, “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners,” and it is believed friends are worried about him. TMZ reported that police carried out a welfare check at his home due to concerns the rock star couldn’t be contacted. Apparently, Manson wouldn’t come out of his house to speak to police, but they were told he was fine via a representative.
