At the end of last month, Jon Moxley applied for the trademark “Death Riders,” which led many to suspect that this could be the revised name for the revamped Blackpool Combat Club. And now, on this week’s episode of Dynamite, this was confirmed when the big screen displayed this name during the stable’s entrance. This name seems to come from Moxley calling the elevated version of his Paradigm Shift finisher “Death Rider” and being the title of his entrance music in New Japan.
The Blackpool Combat Club was officially formed in 2022, with the group’s name coming from the town where the group’s initial leader, William Regal, began his career. However, after he departed AEW to return to WWE, many fans felt the name no longer made sense, and therefore, a change has been long overdue. And while the new name isn’t very family-friendly, it fits a stable that is prepared to suffocate opponents with plastic bags.
