Jerry “The King” Lawler’s Amazing Streak Is Set To End

Jerry “The King” Lawler began wrestling in 1970 and since then, has wrestled every year up until January 2023. However, due to multiple health issues, he hasn’t wrestled in 2024, which now means his impressive 53-year streak of being an active wrestler is set to end. Obviously, this is disappointing for the WWE Hall of Famer, as he likely wanted to at least equal Dory Funk Jr.’s 55 consecutive-year run, but it’s obviously for the best the 75-year-old remains outside of the ring.

Earlier this year, it was reported that Lawler’s WWE deal had been allowed to quietly expire, which shocked many fans because he’d been a significant part of the promotion on and off since 1992. Yet, it was later verified that he was still firmly connected to the company through a WWE Legends contract, meaning he remains eligible to have merchandise produced and continue appearing in video games, which should ensure his ongoing presence in the wrestling world well into retirement.
