The wrestling community has rallied powerfully around WWE referee Daphanie LaShaunn after a devastating house fire claimed the lives of her grandmother, grandfather, uncle, and cousin. LaShaunn shared her profound grief on Instagram, stating she and her family remained at the scene until the very end, calling the situation an “unbelievable nightmare.” The tragedy also displaced her cousin and her five children, who escaped but lost everything. A GoFundMe campaign has therefore been launched to support the survivors and cover the funeral costs.
“My heart aches. Last night I lost my grandma, grandpa, uncle, and cousin in a house fire. We were at the scene til the very end.. My soul is hollow right now. Please pray for my family as we navigate this unbelievable nightmare. Planning 4 funerals and rebuilding is gonna be tough. My cousin, A family of 7 with 5 kids, are now displaced with nothing to their name. Anything helps even a repost.” – Daphanie LaShaunn
The professional wrestling community has a long tradition of supporting its own through GoFundMe and similar crowdfunding campaigns during hardships. Past examples include Ashley Massaro’s daughter’s education fund after her passing, Jay Briscoe’s family support following his 2023 death, Sara Lee’s memorial, and Jeff Cannonball’s ALS fight. Therefore, it isn’t surprising that LaShaunn’s family GoFundMe has already raised more than $50,000, with names like Liv Morgan, Bayley, Natalya, Tiffany Stratton, Shotzi, and Samantha Irvin among those who have contributed.
