Chavo Guerrero Jr. made his AEW debut in July 2020 as the executive consultant for Andrade El Idolo, taking over for Vickie Guerrero. Yet, not long afterward, he was written off television as part of angle on Rampage when Andrade laid him out for aiding him when not wanted. This was done because Guerrero needed to be in Australia to assist in the filming of NBC’s Young Rock, based on The Rock life. Additionally, there was talk of Ric Flair coming in to take over the role. Still, it was always assumed he would return to AEW in some capacity.
Now though, an eagle-eyed Twitter user has spotted that 51-year-old Guerrero has been removed from AEW’s roster page. This would catch Guerrero by surprise, questioning Tony Khan in a since-deleted tweet. However, he did share another tweet saying that it was news to him.
As of writing, Guerrero’s status with AEW remains unclear, although if the former WCW and WWE star is leaving the company, it is unlikely he was released, as AEW doesn’t typically do this. Instead, they allow talents contracts to expire, which is considered the fairest way of dealing with talent deemed surplus to requirements.
