Brett Wayne Sawyer Passes Away Aged 63

In sad news, Bobby Fulton has taken to social media to announce the passing of Brett Eugene Woyan, who is best known to wrestling fans as Brett Wayne Sawyer. Woyan was 63 years old at the time of his death and is survived by his wife and two children. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends during this difficult time.

Woyan was the younger brother of Buzz Sawyer and was broken into the business by him and Ricky Steamboat in the mid-70s, debuting aged just 16. Subsequently, he formed a tag team with his brother, and over the years, they competed in some of the most significant territories of the time, including Pacific Northwest Wrestling, Georgia Championship Wrestling, and New Japan Pro Wrestling, achieving much championship success along the way. Retiring in 1998, Woyan opened a wrestling school in St. Petersburg, Florida, and is credited for being involved in the training of Ken Shamrock.
